USB Charging Port
« on: May 18, 2022, 10:15:33 pm »
The USB charging port inside the cabinet above a bed in our 2022 2552 has ceased working.  The green light was on the first time I looked at it, but the next time, the light was not on and the USB port did not charge my phone.
I suspect a connection came loose, but cannot determine how to get to the connections.  The top should pop off but I see no simple way to do it.
Anyone know how to do it?

Thanks

Hello
You are lucky to have those USB charging ports I had to install mine. It looks like the outer cover pops off around the usb ports. If you have issues you can pull out the 120 volt outlet and get behind the usb plug. The outlet trim just pops off and there are a couple Phillip's screws that you loosen and the whole thing will come out with wires still attached to the outlet. I am curious to know if those usb outlets are 12 volt powered or 120 volt. Before pulling it apart you might want to ensure you don't have any tripped breakers or blown 12 volt fuses.

Very Respectfully
Lance Brant

The smooth ends pop on/off. Don't know how easy. I'd brace the center while trying to lift one end up and off. See pic.

The answer - it was never connected on this 2022 PC.

IF the green LED was on, then it had to be wired to something.  With those partly stripped leads, it does appear to have never been connected.  Maybe what you saw was reflected light that made it look like it was on.

With red and black wires, it's about a 99% sure thing it's supposed to be fed via a 12v DC line.  For safety's sake, I would call the factory, talk to Dave Ponser and find out where exactly it should be wired

That little LED is bright! If it was on, you'd know it. We have one over each bed and one on each wing wall behind the cab seats and it was bright enough throughout the coach that we didn't need to turn lights on at night. I have black tape over all those irritating little lights now so we can sleep.

Just re-read Lance's post. We requested the factory install USB ports over the beds about about 2.5 years ago. We planned to install shelves for our devices but that never happened. Doug said he could pull the 12v wires out through those walls. Dave Ponsler confirmed with us we wanted direct-to-battery. Now they install them up in the cabinets with a port on the bottom for wires to come out. There are 12v lines running through the bottom of the cabinets to feed the lights over the beds so I'm sure they tap into those.

I must have been mistaken about the green light being on before.  Clearly, it had never been connected.
The PC is going in for a couple of other things under warranty, so this is now added to the list.
We bought at La Mesa RV Center in West Sacramento.  It now looks like their pre-delivery inspection was incomplete:
- one support piston for the rear hatch was not fastened to the hatch
- USB charger not connected
- gas grill connect not installed (we were refunded for it - didn't want it anyway)
- grommets over the beds to pass thru cables not installed (also refunded)
- keyless entry buttons did not work - multi-conductor cable torn from connector (Phoenix supplied a replacement, now bluetooth edition)
- fan speed switch on the dash did not work (Ford said it was disconnected when installing Garmin - reconnected it without fuss)
Just some annoyances that Phoenix is helping to clear up:  Phoenix authorized me to take the PC to a highly-rated RV service in town, to save me having to drive 45 miles to the dealer's shop with my other half in tow.
Thank you for that, Keith and Dave!!
