Replacement convertor for Elixir EX-45?
« on: March 16, 2022, 01:09:16 am »
Hi all, me again.  The Elixir EX-45 converter in my 2004 PC 2350 is bad.   Elixir is no longer in business.  I have been recommended to replace it with the Boondocker 1245-PC.

Has anyone here replaced their EX-45 with the 1245-PC?  Or any other converter?  If so, what converter and was it an exact fit?

I took my PC in to an RV service center to get them to diagnose the converter.  The converters they had in stock would not fit (height and width are fine but their depth keeps them from fitting into the available space below the fridge.   According to the Elixir's owner's manual, the bottom converter section only sticks out the back about 5-1/2" but the other converters were 7"+.  I can't find dimensions of the Bookdocker 1245-PC and frankly I hate to spend the bucks if it isn't going to fit.

You might want to call Dave Ponzer at Phoenix and find out if current 2350s have the same space requirements and if so, what they are using now.

Found this, but TNCanuk never returned to the thread to report results.  >(  Shows last activity here was January 2020.  (WH)

There is no physical depth constraint under the refrigerator. When the Parallax converter in my 2350  failed I replaced the “tray” section only with  a Progressive Dynamics Charge Wizard PD4645V, which is 8” deep.

Progressive Dynamics doesn’t show a replacement tray section for the Elixer, so you would have to replace the entire converter assembly with a PD9245-C or -CV.
I hope this helps.

That looks like a very nice replacement converter for the pre-inverter PC era.  This is a great forum.  Great research everyone!
