What type of inside camera security system to you use/or are considering for your rig?   If you have pets how does this work with your security system.   With several major trips planned for this year we would like to consider some type of system before we hit the road.

Are you speaking for on the road?  If your at campsites or Boondocking your issue is WiFi.  You can record with a host of inexpensive cameras but if you want remote viewing say when your out for the day you must have reliable WiFi in order to access it remotely from your smart phone.

What we considering is sometime of wifi security camera so we can continue to monitor the rig when we are out.  This might be either at an RV site or boon docking using a hotspot connection.

Any suggestions...

To try something without breaking the bank to see if using a hotspot is strong enough how about a Wyze camera.  About $25.  I have a couple I set in my garage. They have never lost connection in 2 years so if they don’t work via hot spot it’s not the cameras fault .

Check out the  Arlo Go or Reolink Go LTE mobile security cameras.
   
The Arlo Go is available for either Verizon or AT&T networks. Reolink only works on T-Mobile.  From my experiences traveling in the mountains only the GSM type networks used by  Verizon and Sprint are reliable.

If someone with Verizon wants to try the Arlo Go please do a follow up in this thread. I would have to switch over from  Sprint before diving in.

So the arlo go is network carrier  specific?  That sucks, that’s hard to imagine they would restrict their device.  The cheap Wyze and other little 1080p cameras will connect with any WiFi you choose.does the arlo go give you free cloud service like the Wyze and some of the others?

Communicates via LTE cellular network, not WiFi.

Cloud storage included. Uses  same  app as Arlo WiFi models.

Cal... so another data plan to pay for and  deal with?  The real issue there will be what works where.  Some places in the country Verizon works best , others its t mobile or ATT.  I’m not so sure there’s a simple covers all answer to this.

It would be of no help to know your rig is being broken into if you are six miles down the trail from it.  Video footage would be something that would likely end up somewhere in an evidence envelope.

The best security system would be to have one of those pets at your camp site be a watch dog with authority.

 I agree as far as security goes. I assumed they wanted it to keep an eye on their pets. I have to admit I’ve been gone for hours at times in hot climates where I pray the AC hasn’t shut down etc and no way to know.  If a simple Wyze etc camera worked with a hot  spot you could check on your pet as well as have a thermometer set to keep an eye on that as well.

If there’s no pets inside I wouldn’t  waste the effort to fuss with it. Your home is a different story all together. I have several cameras inside and out. Inside tied to my alarm system. If it’s triggered even the police department can see what’s happening and not just treat it as a false alarm.

I use a Wyze PTZ inside the camper, that way I can turn it and see what our dog is up to. It works great the only issue is its Chinese .. For outside I have a Reolink camera and it to works great, I chose reolink for outside because it uses a small solar panel to power the camera. I mounted the panel on the roof and the camera by the door. Works great, never have to do anything with it. For the inside I also use a govee temp/humidity wifi thermometer. It will send me a notification if the temp gets above a preset temp so I know that my dog isn't suffering from a loss of cooling or heating. I currently use a ToGo dome for all my wifi needs. It works great and I haven't been anywhere yet that I haven't received a signal. What I also like is that I can setup the rv's wifi and then change the source of internet connection between 4g, park wifi with my phone. This way if the park has good wifi I don't use my data. Also all of my devices are logged into the rv's wifi, so I don't have to log them back in every time I change my internet source.

The outside camera allows me to look and see if anyone is at the door etc. You can listen and talk through the camera. It also records about 5 days of motion on the sd card. Just figured it would be cool to log back in and see what's going on. You can also set motion detection and it will notify you.
