Thanks Ron and Tom,
Both of your opinions are valuable.  I am still on the fence with the E350 vs E450. I am leery of a too-stiff of a ride. I off loaded the camper off of the Chevy a while back and my wife and I went for a drive. I forgot to deflate the airbags and every little imperfection in the road felt like an 18" speed bump. I would not want to duplicate that in a 2350! I may have to price an air suspension upgrade.

Welcome to the Forum Bob,

One of the advantages we feel we have with our E-450 over the E-350 is the greater distance above the street that exists at the rear end of the PC.  With the E-350 we often were dragging the tail going into gas stations, parking lots, etc. with the possibility of damaging the macerator that is located back there.

Best regards,
Bruce

Hey Everybody,

I'm new to RV'ing.  Never owned one before.  I recently purchased a 2007 Phoenix Cruiser 2551.  So, a little about myself.  I became a widow about 5 years ago.  I decided to buy an RV because of the freedom that I hope it will offer me.  I have a couple of dogs and I would like to take them with me when I finally get on the road. I'm a bit intimidated at the thought of venturing out on my own, but also I'm sort of excited about the new adventure of it!

Anyway, a question for anyone who can help.  While my Cruiser is parked I would like to cover it.  Being that I'm in Florida, I don't want the elements to take a toll on it.  Can anyone recommend a good cover?  One that will really protect it and is easy to put on and take off.

Thanx in advance!

Welcome,I'm sure you'll find plenty of answers here.I also live in Florida during the winter months. We cover the tires and the windshield to protect the rubber and dashboard from UV rays.We place a dehumidifier in the shower and allow it to drain through the open gray tank. We've thought about a steel carport but have not gone with that as yet.I follow a blog from a single woman who travels with two dogs that I think you may find informative and enlightening. http://rvsueandcrew.net/

Welcome to the Forum  (w)

We live in Florida and basically follow the same procedure as YankeeFlyer. We keep our PC at a storage facility. We live in a deed restricted community so we are unable to keep it at the house or erect any sort of carport structure to protect the full body paint (would love to have it at the house).

We bought an Adco cover (for our previous 2551) and never put it on. It was expensive and we finally sold it at a loss. Now with the 2910m we keep a good coat of wax on and hope for the best!!!

We hope you enjoy your new "down sized" motorhome. I think you will find it easier to go more places.

Welcome Roger and Deb  :)

We have a 2012 2551 and will be in Florida from December 28th until March 22.  We travel between the COE Parks for eight weeks and then head over to Fort Myers Beach for three weeks starting March 1st.
We always spend our first two nights in Florida at Ocala North RV Park.  I think we may be there this year 12/27 and 12/28 if our travel plans work out.

Enjoy your new unit.  Hope to maybe get a chance to meet you in Florida.

Hello Deb and Roger,

Six months ago we sold our 37' 2004 Beaver Monterey that we loved ever since purchasing it new in '04, but at this time in our lives we feel that we are "right-sized" with our new PC 2552.  Like you, we received much help from the forum members here to make the new baby feel perfect for us.  We'll be spending Christmas in it at The Springs at Borrego RV Resort & Golf Course halfway between San Diego and Palm Springs, but we'll be wishing you well in Florida with your new PC.

Happy traveling,
Sharon and Bruce

Welcome Roger and Deb!

We, too, are hoping to meet other Cruiser owners in Florida (and anywhere for that matter). We live full time and work half time in our 2552 and will be wandering Florida and southern or coastal Georgia for the cold months. We are actually staging for a run back north since our son didn't get his travel plans together to escape Maryland's cold for winter break (boy is he going to regret that one).

We tentatively plan to be near Miami for the first week of February to visit family and we just booked into Lake Kissimee State Park near Orlando for the week of February 9-14, which I think is not terribly far from you. We still need to hit the Florida Panhandle to align our drive shaft and hope to do that in January so we will be sliding through your area sometime then also. We will be north again by mid-March for a wedding then off and away.

If our schedules mesh, we'd love to meet you.

Hi,
We just picked up our new 2350 this week and boy was it cold in Elkhart and on our way home to New York. We spent the  first night in "Surprise" and we were warm in our bed, our pet dog Sadie was very cold on the floor, in the morning it was +3.  We decided to spend the nights in a hotel for a couple days and then try to miss the snow on our trip back east. We got home last night and missed the snow by going south thru Pa instead of along the lakes and Buffalo.  All's well, camper is in the barn as we are expecting 5-10 tonight.  We hope to go south to Fl in January. We are looking forward to enjoying our new PC, and FYI you can run the heat all night on battery power when its near 0!
Happy new owners of our first PC!

Welcome Triumph! I'm glad you made it back safe and sound through the snowy north. I hope you get to go out and play somewhere warmer soon!

Welcome to Phoenix USA RV's Discussion Board. We think you'll find this is a nice place to hang out. Why don't you start off with a little introduction and tell us a bit about yourself?

Hello Everyone, I'm Joe Quinn from Southwest Fl.  Joined the forum as I'm considering the future purchase of a PC model #2552.  I'm not a newbe to the RV life style as it seems I've been in & out of it for the past 5 decades.  My last MH was a 40ft 2006 Tuscany diesel class A that I sold in 2010 after extensive use.  I went on to try a towable for a couple years & found that to be to far a step backwards & sold it, now I'm looking for that happy medium in between both & the PC has my attention.

One of the things on my mind is the necessity to tow a vehicle.  We do a lot of moving around and I realize the advantages of a toad but is it really necessary?  On extended stays I would rent a car but for cross country trips as we have kids in Las-Vegas & California on the west Coast & Buffalo, NY on the east coast I would prefer not.  Being approx. 27 ft in length & fairly narrow is this coach park able at curbside & things like that.  Any insight here or other tips regarding the PC would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Welcome Joe!

The 2552 is the hottest selling PC, most popular in the PC community, and quite eye catching to owners of other brand motor homes, especially older couples.  The 2552 is one of the lighter rigs built on the E450 which makes it very well suited for towing the 5000 pound limit defined by the hitch.  As far as using the rig as your get-around-town vehicle, I can say that our shorter model 2350 (23'-8" long) seems to be pushing the limit for us.  We could surely get by as we have done so on one trip.  I suppose a lot depends on where and for how long you'll be wishing you brought your car from home.  For us, some trips are real nice to get around in our Jeep Liberty because without it, we'd miss out on so much.  But our vacation around Lake Michigan, I think it would have been better to leave the Liberty home.  Each trip's agenda dictates when to take it and when to leave it home.  For us it's not something we absolutely must bring on every vacation.  But yes absolutely on "some" vacations.
