Hello everyone, I was wondering if you guys can give us your MPG on the Ford E450 on the smaller units like the 2100 or 2350....I know alot of factors go into it....but give us your average or give us you actual situations with road conditions and weight or even towing.....thank you for all your comments in advance

I only consider real life mileage, not the one tank that was over the top or the one tank that was really the pits. On our last trip we covered 9,000 miles. Some days bucking winds head on some days with side winds but damn if there ever seemed to be a tail wind. Many days of back roads driving 55 mph and days of interstate at 70 as well. I figured our generator as using .6 gallons an hour. We towed a smart car 100 percent of the time. All in we averaged 9.2 mpg.  This is on a 2552 for what ever that is worth.

I would agree with Joseph, our 2015 (2014 cutaway chassis) 2552 gets about 9.2 mpg on average.  We don't tow with it and yes, speed plays a big part.   When we stay off the interstate and lower altitude (but not in stop and go traffic either) and keep the speed in the 55 to 60 range... We've gotten over 10mpg.   When climbing Colorado's 10 and 11 thousand foot passes... Much lower... But, what goes up, goes downhill and much better mpg... But all in all I count on and get 9mpg (rounded down).

A 2100 or 2350 should get somewhat better simply because of less weight.

I used to own a 2008 Lexington RV built on an E450 cutaway that was a couple of feet shorter.. I got about 10mpg on it.  I owned a 2000 Minnie RV on an E350 cutaway.   It was shorter by a couple of feet than the Lexington and could count on close to 12mpg with it.

As the saying goes... Your Mileage May Vary.

I'm afraid that our 2014 PC 2350 w/slide doesn't outperform the bigger 2552's - we average 9 mpg as well in our (2013) E450 chassis, no tow vehicle and well under OCCC....

2150 rpm seems to be the sweet spot for hyper-miling a V10 Ford.
What are the cruising rpm’s for a 6 speed E450 at 62 and 65mph?

Maybe wait to see how much better the new Godzilla 7.3  V8 in the 2021 E450 does.

It would be nice if Phoenix could entice Motorhome  Magazine to do a full review of a new TRX 3500 turbo diesel and put up some  mpg  numbers. Just sayin....
Goin' where the wind goes...

Thanks.......I think that would be great also.....I would consider the trx if the milege was around 14-15 mpg....even though the towing capacity would be less...

Hello,
I had a Thor Gemini on the Ford 350 hd Transit chassis With the 3.2 power stroke Diesel, I would get 15 mpg easily @ 62 to 65 mph

I have had 350 and 450 chassis small Class Cs over the years with the V10.   Nine.   Good days more.  Bad days less.  I am on target  with Joseph in his post.

If you look at the TOTAL cost of owning any motorhome and consider depreciation, storage expense, insurance, license fees, annual inspections, maintenance etc., I think you will find the difference between nine mpg and 14 mpg in actual cost of fuel compared to the other expenses to be less meaningful than you might think at first blush.   !0,000 miles a year at 9 is 1111 gallons.   10,000 miles a year at 14 is 714  gallons.   Now, that is almost 400 gallons difference which may be about a thousand bucks a year.  The average owner doesn't drive 10,000 miles, maybe half of that.   We drive about 6000 miles a year and spend about six weeks a year in our PC.

Money is money, but compared to total cost, I just never worry about fuel cost that much.  One thing I do know, that V10 can pull a lot of weight and is a very reliable chassis.

I don't mean to be flippant about spending money on gasoline, but compared to storage costs and depreciation, it just isn't that big a factor for me.

And don't forget the extra cost of maintenance for a diesel.

As a possible on the tax, my 2350 Sprinter (larger, Mercedes diesel - some use this engine, I think) averages 16 - hills, 50, 70 or whatever.  I have had 3 PC Sprinters, and all have recorded the same..FWIW.

Our 2007 E350 PC-2350 averages 9.2 towing our Jeep Liberty and 9.5 our Toyota MR2 Spyder.
Only one trip we towed nothing and we averaged 10.5 mpg.

Our trips originate near Chicago and we travel out west.  This means that much of our driving is steady across the Great Plains.  Our trips are typically 5000-6000 miles driven with the motor home.  Our cruising speed is always under 70 mph, typically we set the cruise to 67 mph.  Fuel economy is calculated from the time we leave home, to the time we return home.  I assume our generator consumes 1/2 gallon of gas per hour and that is considered in the calculation.

The benefit to towing another vehicle is that once at our destinations, we drive the fuel efficient vehicle.

The MR2 Spyder was great until we developed an appetite for exploration.  It does not do so well on roads designated for 4x4's.  The look we got from people when they saw us pull into the area full of Jeep Wranglers.  That was our defining moment to get a 4x4.
