Hi stanclem,

2004 was a transition year for every Phoenix Cruiser model, and I see you are on the "improved" side of the equation.  The integrated spare tire rear wall unit replaced the previous design that was more susceptible to leaking seam work.  The improved rear wall also has storage, integrated LED lighting, and it simply looks more refined.

Here is the previous rear wall.

Here is yours for comparison.

Carol’s B&B is looking good  2o2

Your sig says tan interior? That’s a nice and uncommon color combination.

The full body paint graphics have been what I refer to as "Ocean Surf" since at least 2007 because I have a touch of it on my 2007.  I wonder what the next artistic trend will be.

Ron, I hope it’s less old geezer swirl even though I’m old. I understand it’s a lot of surface area but these graphic swirls are ugly to start and stickers for crying out loud.  Sheesh. I’d prefer one solid color, probably white in full body paint over stickers or swirls. I’ve seen many haulmark super c in solid white and they actually look good even with the huge surface area.

'Old Geezer Swirls '  roflol  Thats a kind description. I am eagerly looking forward to having ours one color... someday... it looks SO classy.   I think CalCruiser's look is a close second. I Do prefer the swooshes over this...  :beg

Quote
Our sister blog, Jezebel, investigated this a few months ago and it seems like manufacturers don’t really have a good reason for the swooshes. Chris Barth, the Senior Director of Product Development at the RV manufacturer Jayco said, “Nobody understands the swooshes and the sweeps on the outside,” adding, “That’s the way we’ve always done it.”

Interesting.

FYI:  The only graphics on our PC are the words (PHOENIX CRUISER & .com)  The 3 color graphics is paintwork.  I have no idea how it is done, but it's painted with perfection.  The line work is laser-like, very clean with a very smooth transition.

From the day I saw the 2007 PC brochure front cover, I thought it was great and I still love it on our PC.  We really wanted the green version of the same (to coordinate with our green interior) but at the time Phoenix could not present a photograph of the green color, so we went with the safe choice gray per the 2007 front cover.

Since then, the "Ocean Surf" has gotten more and more busy.  I don't mean to insult anyone here, but I don't care for it.

I always thought it would be a smart choice to get the entire house portion of the rig painted the same color white as the original factory paint of the Ford Cab.  Such a full body paint job (minus the Ford van portion) should be quite affordable, and most importantly, it will hold up to the elements and look new for so many more years than raw gelcoat & plastics.  It will be very easy to clean and wax and the plastics will be UV protected.  Then add a few mild graphics if you so desire to add a little something to break up the all white rig.  If we did not like our full body paint job, this would have been my #2 choice.  Phoenix does not officially offer it, but I am sure they would come up with a nicely discounted price.

Ron, to me it’s not a question of by doing swirls in paint being better than stickers. Of course stickers are never going to be as good as paint. It’s the swirl designs themselves. The quote Volk pulled out of a hat (thank you Volk kindly) says it all. The swirls are just what they’ve always done. Well I don’t want my Grandma’s  curtains in my home either and I’m a Grandpa many times over.  Just because I’m well into Geezerdom doesn’t mean I want to scream it to the world at 62 mph 😳!  It’s time for the young minds to come up with new design ideas.

Hmmm, Yes indeed a SWAT truck, but they messed up.  The "Phoenix Cruiser" name needs to be replaced with S.W.A.T.

I wonder how the 4x4 rides? This one appears to only have one AC unit.  With the dark color that’s going to be an issue but I do like the look.  Also I noticed it has a central vacuum which kind of baffles me.  Small area to clean and limited storage for the hoses as well as the vacuum unit itself. Or are they much smaller than I imagine?   I see it has a rear spare tire as well. I must be mistaken in my memory.  I thought they got rid of the rear tire mounted on the back? I must be thinking of another manufacturer.
