progressive industries ems-pt30x E3 error code
« on: June 15, 2019, 06:01:38 pm »
Bought a progressive industries ems-pt30x and lately it has been giving an E3 error code at the last couple of parks. Can these four parks all be wired wrong? And they are in 3 different states. Any suggestions? And no I don't have a voltage meter, even if I knew how to use one properly.

From the manual:
E 3 = Line 1 High Voltage (line 1 voltage above 132V)

I think it is possible that your EMS is out of calibration but the only real way to tell is to measure the voltage to compare to what the EMS reports.
If you don't know anyone who can take a measurement for you, you can get get a reasonably accurate reading with one of these cheap and easy to use devices:

Just plug it in and read the number.

Good luck and when all else fails, call the manufacturer.

When I have received a similar error I have found that I had not secured the end of the electrical cable into the rig correctly.  I have a 50 amp on my 2910D and have noticed that I must turn the female end and then tighten securely with the ring nut.  Once I do that the error goes away... and I get the E 0 code meaning no errors

If nothing else, I have been able to assist people when THEY had tools, but I did not. Even if you cant use them, others may be able to get you going with them.

I finally contacted PI and after a while got a direction to solve the issue. It seems that with the codes of the unit it is a warranty item. Only issue is that I can not find the receipt. Finally got connected with the company I bought it from and they sent me a copy, which I attached to the warranty request. Just waiting now to see what the next step is.
Thanks for the replies!
