Shelf suggestions needed

We have a 2019 2552 and have each discovered we need a small shelf over the head of our bed to put our cell phone/kindle/watch etc on when we bed down at night.  I'm hesitant to drill holes to screw in a shelf, but may have to do that.  Due to where the plug ins are for charging it really needs to be at the head of the bed.  Have any of you already added a shelf here - if so would you be willing to share pictures?  TIA

I've always wondered why that's not standard equipment in every motor home.  For our 2350, I built a wooden box where we can stash our phones, glasses, and a glass of water and installed it at the foot of the bed.  I also added an electric outlet with USB charger outputs.  On the 2350, it was easy because there is a shirt closet that overhangs the foot of the bed.  For some unknown reason, there is an electrical outlet INSIDE that closet.  So it was simple to extend to an outlet on the outside.

This is my shelf version.  We have found them very handy to hold various items.


I installed a 12 volt “cigarette lighter” style socket in the upper cabinet.  Also purchased a USB converter to plug into the outlet.  Almost exclusively we use the USB to charge phones, IPad, etc.  I think if I were doing it now I would just install a USB style outlet.


I considered installing a 110 volt outlet but knowing our main use would be recharging small electronic items, providing a 12 volt outlet made more sense.  We do some dry camping (no electrical hookup) and thought having direct 12 volt was more power efficient rather than needing to run the inverter to produce 110 volt power followed by reducing it to 12 volt.  It would be easy to install both a 12 V and 110 V outlet if desired.

When we picked up our unit at the factory we asked for some scrap remnants of the Euro leather.  Fortunately PC was able to provide us enough to do a couple of small projects.
