Anyone Upgraded Samsung DVD/Theater Unit?

I have a 2011 2551 with a Samsung HT-C550/XAA home Theater Unit in it.

I'd like to upgrade this to something more modern.

I'd really like a device that would fit in the same cabinet slot but will remodel if necessary. I've found a couple that will fit that are very expensive or don't have all the features I'm looking for. I fear remodel for a larger unit is going to be necessary.

Has anyone else performed an upgrade and can share what unit they installed, any mods they had to make, etc.

We have the older "Executive" brand unit in our 2007 PC as shown.  It works like new but is not user friendly, especially when trying to listening to FM radio, and it does not have AM radio or Blu-Ray.  I would be interested in a user friendly AM, FM, CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray unit that requires NO modification to the cabinet, and is not sensitive to road vibrations.  The passenger (s) will sometime watch a movie while in transit.

I have not upgraded my 15 year old Fisher but plan to.  I started doing some research on new units that have Blu-ray but haven’t got far enough to be helpful yet!  Looks like there’s several of us in the same boat. When I get back to researching I will post what I have found. Surely someone has already replaced theirs.

Isn’t the real issue finding a unit that has the surround sound built in as well?  If there is a simple solution I’ll bet there will be several interested.
