Newbie here so I am looking under my Rig at the Macerator. Trying to learn how to disconnect the gray and black actuator valves if I ever needed to and I see this small black hose coming out of a T valve off the bottom of the Macerator (see the picture) and it loops under then over the macerator and attaches to a small black plastic nub. I think the small plastic nub is supposed to be a keeper and give the small black hose a place to hold on too. Can anyone tell me what the valve is for If this small black hose is supposed to be attached to a small black plastic nub that appears to be part of the macerator? The black plastic nub is solid and the black tubing is hollow, not sure what this is?

Looks like a boondocker gray water drain to me. Not a bad idea!

In the top pic, labeled "Valve off mas"  it sure looks like a valve off the gray water tank.. before the slide valve.  This may be up off the bottom to avoid solids clogging it. When in use, take the end of the hose off the 'storage nub' and allow to drain on the ground?

My original macerator had a gray water bypass on it, the replacement did not. Mine was like the pic below originally: Clear tube on the top of the pump is the bypass.

Even that system still had an issue with appearances,  I have no problem dumping gray water, but the appearance of improper blackwater dumping will be a problem if people see the 'big hose' coming off dumping graywater. Even with the garden hose cover -

the appearance still could be an issue. I like the 'stealth' valve and small dump hose.  May do something similar when I have mine apart, and set it to drain somewhere behind the back tire...
Many times we have water and power, but no sewer. Often we rent a port-o-let for our site, and the commode is only used late night/bad weather. So black water can stay tanked. But the long hot showers need a drain. LOVE my showers, especially with the extend-a-shower rod in there now. .

I agree it would be nice to have a stealthy gray water release onto the ground.  But such a small tube could easily get plugged by a piece of carrot or kernel of corn that accidentally went down the kitchen sink.  Maybe a mid-point tap into the grey exit pipe would avoid both floating and sunken debris.

I do like to flood the black tank with gray water for a good flush.  But as Volkemon mentions, there are camp ground sites offering fresh water access either for on-site filling or hose-hook-up, and also 110V, but no sewer.  A slow gray tank drain would be ideal for those situations....of coarse where on-site grey water draining is permitted.  In those cases, it's ideal to have the large 35 gallon tank assigned to "black" duty as is common on many PC models.

Yep, I think you are correct in it being a stealth Gray water trickle ie low volume dump tube. and I do think it could and would be easily blocked with debris. Someone also suggested it was put in in case there was vacuum or air lock in the system. I'm not sure I agree with this as the system is not in a sealed closed loop circuit thanks for the input.

It looks like 3/8 tubing, and thats what the OEM bypass was on my coach.   (WH)   Suppose the flow rate is slow enough the debris is not 'force-jammed' to block flow. But the trickle over hours and hours keeps up with use.

I like the idea it presents, and will soon be exploring the drainage system..... Thanks!    :)(:   Seems like a cool modification.

I would consider a 1/2" tube and residential ball valve to nicely adjust the flow rate.  The larger hole greatly reduces the chance of plugging things up.  But if it does happen, you could more easily address it.

when I open the ball valve nothing comes out. I fear it is clogged anyone every uses a high-pressure air nozzle to clear it. I'm still not sure what this outlet and hose the  is for but I'm still thinking it is a boondocking low flow gray water outflow

I took the valve apart and cleaned it. It was full of junk and now it works as a boon docker gray water drain with a very low volume flow.. I love it.. the previous owner must have put this on. And will be great for boon docking.

Please be aware of what it is that you have in your gray tank when you put it on the ground, and where it is that you are putting it.  Food waste draws ants and mice, maybe not for you, but the next guy.
Please keep soaps far away from our rivers and streams, at least out here in the west where we rely on them.
Thank you.

When necessary, I have been dumping gray water on the ground for years.  Soaps are mostly biodegradable and very little food, if any, goes into my gray water tank.

I have also, and still will. My Aliner doesn't even have a gray tank.  I put a strainer under the discharge (you'll be amazed at the amound of stuff you catch) and I'm certain to be nowhere near potential runoff to watershed. I'll water some thirsty plants here in the desert. You learn this practice wilderness river rafting. And real biodegradeable soap works fine. Most soaps are petrochemicals.

If you dump it down a storm drain, it is going into a river somewhere. Same with washing your car in the driveway or street if you are in a town.
