I filled up today with Propane 10 gallons and fired up the furnace. It worked wonderfully no problems at all. I am still trying to understand my Dometic thermostat. What does Zone 1 mean? and as I scroll through the MODES what is HP?  is that the heat strip?  thanks ,

Zone 1 would indicate it is a multizone thermostat, might only use one zone?

HP is for Heat Pump, another way to get heat out of an AC unit besides using the resistor strip style heater in the unit. Often the strip heater is referred to as 'Emergency Heat' on heat pump capable thermostats.

Hi romstead,

For our 2007 model 2350, I once considered replacing our mechanical thermostat with a fancy digital one.  I later dropped that idea after our experience with a new digital one for our regular house.  We must be old fashion, resistant to technology.....at least when it comes to thermostats.

We love our PC's mechanical one shown here.  It requires no thought, even in the middle of the night when mostly asleep.  I can raise or lower the temp while in bed, in the dark, just by feeling the slide control.

If you struggle with the fancy digital controller, I recommend getting this one.....as long as it is compatible with your setup.  It does not appear to handle multiple a/c units as individual "zones" nor a heat pump.

Thanks, everyone  I have been tinkering with the thermostat, and have determined Zone 1 is the only Zone1.  there is no Zone 2, HP is the heat strip, heating air through the heat pump on the ceiling When I select furnace on the thermostat and use it for heat it gets really hot in the RV really fast. almost to fast, and so warm, I find I am always adjusting the Temp on the thermostat up and down to turn it on and off. how do other folks use the furnace settings?

Propane furnace: You should be able to set your furnace and forget it. It cycles on and off as needed. It does seem to have a bit of a frame and gets chilly just before it kicks on then warms to a bit over the set temp.

Heat strip/heat pump/AC heat portion: go to fan setting first and set it to auto (au) then cycle down to heat strip setting and set temp. It will cycle on and off as needed.

AC: set the fan first as above then cycle to AC and set temp. You can set fan to low or high and then set temp on AC. The fan will run continuously and circulate air but the AC compressor will only cycle on when needed.
