Water pump in 2007
« on: March 12, 2019, 03:12:42 pm »
This my first time on this forum. I’m in a 2007 / 2350. Traveling full time. Where is the water pump located and is supposed to make loud noise when operating? It is also vibrating especially when using hot water. Any suggestions ?

Look in the back of the big outside storage compartment under the bed. It could be something as simple as a loose bracket or something touching it causing a vibration

An intermittent brrr sound when  a faucet is left open is normal. Search for Ron Dittmer's thread about adding an accumulator to eliminate that.

Hi Lucille10,

You have the exact same year and model year PC as we do.  Do you have a slide out?

The quick answers to your questions are....
- Your water pump is in the outside storage compartment under the bed.
- Your concern of loud noise is normal, just like our 2350 was the first year.  It was irritating as heck.

We bought our 2007 2350 new in 2007.  After the first year, I installed a water accumulator tank which completely changed the pump's behavior for the better.  Instead of loud groaning rapid on/off cycles, it is very quiet and also smooth in operation.  It also provides more consistent water pressure which is most noticeable in the water temperature when taking a shower.  I highly recommend installing one.

I did mine cheap, but today, especially for your particular PC, I recommend a different accumulator tank for a much cleaner installation to reduce the amount of space it takes up in your outdoor storage compartment.  Walmart is selling it for $124.36 right now.  CLICK HERE to see it.  Measuring my compartment's vertical dimension of 15.75", you should have over 6" to work with mounting the pump on top which should be enough.  The 2 gallon size holds 0.7 gallons of water when the pump stops.  The rest is compressed air which creates the water pressure.  When the .7 gallons is gone, the pump refills the tank.

The pump runs so quiet with our accumulator tank that it doesn't wake us up when someone flushes the toilet during the night and the pump happens to kick on.  But more often than not, the pump does not turn on for a toilet flush.

Let me know if you want more information on this.

I just caught something in all these discussions. Ron, your water plump is in an outside bin? Meaning some of your water system is in unheated space? Ours is all inside until you get to the dump valves or outdoor shower. Doesn't that put them at risk of freezing?

Our fresh water tank and pump are together in our outside storage compartment, officially defined as interior heated space.  The outside storage access door is weather-sealed and somewhat insulated, identical in construction to the rear storage compartment door we all have.  If I was a serious winter camper, I would add a small grille on each side of the bed platform, spread apart as far as possible to get more interior heat flowing through under the bed for extra freeze protection.

Later when Phoenix included the fridge inside the slide-out, the furnace was relocated under the bed which naturally increases the freeze protection inside the compartment.

Hi Lucille10,

The quick answers to your questions are....
- Your water pump is in the outside storage compartment under the bed.
- Your description sounds perfectly normal, just like ours did the first year.  It was irritating as heck.

I'd like info on that smaller accumulator tank. Our pump is under the longer bed in the 2551 (with everything almost) and like all pumps is noisy. Not sure if I'd have enough room there...
Thanks,
Dougn

Hopefully someone with model 2551 and small accumulator will provide you with the details you seek.

Thank you for all your info.  My 2350 does not have a slide.  I will purchase the accumulator.  This is a great Form... tymote
