2552 Delivery Day at the Factory Monday May 14
« on: May 20, 2018, 12:42:53 pm »
Highlights of Delivery Day at the factory:

•   Meeting Lee and Diane Ingold from Ohio, who were having repairs and maintenance done on their newly purchased used 2552. We hope to camp with them in the future.
•   Walk through with Barry Hyser, George Tschida, with cameos from Bobby on the shop floor.
•   Final finances with Keith Kinder, which went well.
•   Factory tour, after walk through, with Barry
•   Camping on the factory lot 1st night, with 30A service and filled freshwater tank

Walkthrough (video taped on a GoPro with chestie harness)
•   Arrived at 09:30am for 11am appointment; Barry appeared and asked if we were ready to start walk through – so we did.
•   George Tschida, a talented hands-on engineer who performs the PDI, joined us for the walk through. He gave me a copy of his PDI checklist and showed me that he had printed a copy of my “2552 Test Plan” spreadsheet in his clip board.
•   4 Way valve had raised black letters for the functions against a black valve assembly – hard to read. Barry arranged for someone to print out labels with a label maker for all four functions – problem solved.
•   Chuck (co-owner) came over and introduced himself and said PC was considering adding a pair of grab bars just inside the side entrance – were we interested? Yes was our answer – he gave us two, and Bobby found the right hardware and installed them for us, one on each side. They helped us a lot getting in and out of the coach.
•   Bobby drilled a hole and added a gasket in over bed compartment for my wife’s CPAP machine – a custom installation! Bobby also installed my two brackets for the mag light flashlight, just above the fire extinguisher.
•   Barry was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and engaged – quite a positive experience for us!

Factory Tour (reinforced why we bought from PC)
•   PC uses rubber pucks or pads to reduce the vibration and noise between the foundation and the flooring of the rig – the same technique the US Navy does to reduce noise and vibrations on our submarines.
•   I learned that PC’s design and assembly of the ‘house’ to the foundation precludes torqueing of the house – torqueing caused a major window leak in my previous Class C RV
•   Phoenix Cruiser pays incredible attention to detail and fit and finish. I recommend you ask for a factory tour as part of your delivery day if you haven’t had one yet.

Features on our new 2552 of immediate benefit
•   Steering Stabilizer Plus for driving down the road
•   Cab window tinting and eyebrow across windshield
•   Mobileye Safety Awareness system
•   Side turn signal cameras
•   Additional outside lights over water panel and rear of coach.

We had an exceptional delivery day at PC in Elkhart! Everyone from tippy top management down to the shop floor was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We did not expect to meet an owner – and there he was on the shop floor talking to us. PC has an incredible culture and attitude – we were blown away by the experience and hope that yours goes as well.

Well done!  Nice critique!  2o2We took the very informative factory tour before we bought our used PC from a dealer in Florida in Dec.2016 (PC had a Ford 2400 but we wanted a Sprinter).  We went back to PC after buying Fawkes to have an awning installed and you would have thought we were buying one of each PC model by the excellent service. As we travel and people admire Fawkes, we are lavish with our positive comments about “The Mothership”. :)(:

A very nice write-up, thank you for sharing. Sounds like a very positive experience. Right in line with our experiences at Phoenix (we've been there quite a few times over the last 2 years). We've met many of the players, and have always been treated with respect. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.

We are visiting tomorrow again to see our coach, since it has returned from paint. We are calling it our pre-pre-delivery walk-through.

After reading your post, we are even more excited about our taking delivery in a few weeks.

Congratulations, enjoy your new 2552!

Can you expand on this or post a picture?  We have an appointment June 8th to have some work done.  One of the items my wife requested was the addition of a second handle on the right side of the door just like the grab bar on outside left.  If PC is considering something along those lines I'm in.

John,

Congratulations on your new buggy! Glad to hear the delivery went so smoothly. Are you going to Duluth in September for the rally?

John H,

Great write-up!  I am so happy for you.  I know you had some reservations on what to expect.  You sound well satisfied.  It is good to read that as much as things have changed with the company, what matters to the customer remains the same as it did back in 2007 when Irene and I went through the process.....though admittedly we were much less prepared than you.

Reading your comments on the rubber isolator pucks between house and frame was well documented in a narrated slide-show created by Phoenix in 2007.....another great feature that lives on.

Phoenix got the basic design of the structure of the house and panels refined mid-year 2004 and has carried it through to this very day.  With exception to the styling change to the Ford chassis along with some hardware, the awning & antenna, and other such peripherals, a 2004 and 2018 (with optional spare tire rear wall) parked side-by-side will look identical.

Don't change what's not broken.   2o2

One grab bar picture; identical one on other side. Sorry, no Duluth this year. Hopefully rally next year.
