Scan gauge 2 transmission fluid temperature

I have a 2018 E450 and SG2.  I’ve loaded every Xcode Trans Fluid Temp (TFT) series I can find without success.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!!!’

Glad the codes worked.  I have found the Scan Gauge useful.  I typically monitor transmission temperature pretty close when ascending mountain roads as well as when the engine is providing significant braking while descending. I target a maximum of about 207 degrees maximum to extend the life of the transmission.  I see about 203 degrees on relatively flat interstate driving.

I think having the ability to monitor real time miles per gallon has helped in adjusting my driving style to reduce fuel consumption.

Not a biggie but I usually keep up with outside temperature by viewing “Intake Air Temp”.  While traveling at highway speeds the SG temp matches very close outside air temp.

So what model scan-gauge do you have and how do you have it mounted? 

Scan guage 2,   I have a dash rug and simply used Velcro to mount the gauge just under the handle on the drivers side.  I pushed the wire under the rubber seal on the cab side of the door.  It works vert well

The friendly techs at Phoenix installed my ScanGuage II in the dash when I took delivery of my 2552 last February. It took less than 5 minutes. They removed the (useless) coin-holder insert in the E450 dash and with a dremel tool cut an opening in its back to fit the scan guage, then popped it back in the dash. Very convenient location and it looks like it was built in by Ford.

Great location, just need to figure out how to get it out off

I mounted mine in the same spot however I surfaced mounted it over it so should I ever sell - trade etc I can take it with me. That location is about as good as I could find for seeing what I needed with out distracting me too much from the road.


I’m really impressed on how accurate these scan gauges are. I’ve done several non stop tanks of fuel and checked the mileage against what the scan gauge states and it’s always been within a fraction of each other. No more than what could be the differences in topping it off. I use mine mostly to keep an eye on the transmission fluid temp and engine coolant temp. The tranny fluid temp is critical in knowing when you may need to do a hot flush.
