It took us a long time to get approved for the forum, too.  I asked Kyle about it, and he said the software powering this form can accommodate only so many members and has long been max'd out.  The only way to add a new member is to find an old, inactive member and kick them off.
This is just part of the fun of dealing with a small outfit like Phoenix.  I'd rather have the personal service we get than the formalized efficiency (or, sometimes, the formalized inefficiency) of a big company.

This is the post I was answering, not any thing Patrica said.
I hope no one quits because of over crowding as there are was there are ways to over come that.

No problem, Tom. . .the small forum population theory sounds perfectly sound.   ;)  I just didn't want any rush for the exit under a misunderstanding.   :)(:

I am not an expert on this but a quick look shows this forum is run by SMF (Simple Machines Forum) software.  Which is both free and open source.  Nowhere on their website, help forum or the online manual  can I find anything that indicates there is a limit on the number of users.  And from a logical viewpoint that makes no sense with forum software, users do not take up room like at a hotel, just an entry in a database.

So before we get users closing accounts perhaps it would be a good idea to find out if that is actually necessary.  I do not think it is, though I have occasionally been wrong:).

I do see they are running version 1.1 and version 2.0 is available with 2.1 available as a beta.
