Slide seals
« on: September 22, 2017, 04:50:03 pm »
Just left the Phoenix factory. Had the new style slide out seals installed. I found out about them from Kermit at the Sisters rally so called for an appointment on my way back to Pennsylvania. It took them about three hours to install. They are installed under the round moulding that surrounds the slide opening, are very carefully fit, and look like they will do the job. The old seals are left in place. Now if it would only rain. It's 96 degrees here in the campground :help

Have to wonder if this gasket install is something that might assure we have a dry dinette slide out. We have had water intrusions  on passenger side several times when camping. First time was day/night we took delivery and were at the nearby campground and a storm came through and poor Miss Elle was soaked as she slept on the floor on her bed so she hopped up on sofa... what a pour in we had. Since then other times were not that bad but I make an effort to level and sometimes just put that slide in. Our unit is 16  2910T so 3 slides and have only had prob with the dinette slide. We were pleased with the response at the plant and several things we wanted to have done were taken care of. So we are pleased with our improvements. Looking forward to joining our winter camping group in 3 weeks at Mim's N of Daytona. P
Patricia
A new day has dawned now only traveling with Miss Elle . Jim will be watching over us.

I examined the exterior of the angled walls on the 2552X and found nothing of concern. But we haven't driven through any heavy rain. The new seals do creak some. Just got home last night so will give the slide the "hose test" during her wash down and then lube the seals with liquid soap.
