Right. I think the current GVWR of the Transit is a real limitation. Current makers are talking about an OCC of anywhere from 900-1200 pounds...and that may be a stretch. We love the Sprinters to drive. Its the only RV that my wife feels comfortable in driving. We did test drive a Fuse Transit last April and it handled very well. Noted differences were the cab is much lower to the road, car like, and very little wind effect. Also it had a little bit more get up and go then the Sprinters.
I think the "quirks" are not related to breakdowns. I assume that the early years issues with the Sprinter relating to "limp home mode" and DEF issues have long been solved. The $10K price difference, lack of MB dealers, and cost of maintenance, seems to be sticking points with some folks. A delivery fleet owner stated that the long term maintenance costs for the Sprinter was .10 a mile and .02 a mile for the Transit?? Will be interesting to see what Ford does in the future,\.
