Tires on new 2552
« on: June 05, 2017, 02:19:39 pm »
Got my new 2552 this week and while trying to figure out how to put my TMPS on the tires saw that it had Hancook tires instead of michelons Very disappointed as advertised michelons tires.

Tire extensions are really weird don't know what I'm gonna do to get them to work.

I was not able to use my TST TPMS sensors on our 2016 unit with the flexible extensions.  I replaced the rear tire valves with Borg brand valves.  These are one piece and do not require extensions thus fewer places to leak.  The TPMS system is now installed on all 6 tires.  My pressure gauge and compressor also work much better with the Borg units than the factory extensions.

I was at the factory a couple weeks ago and noticed a 4wd unit with tires other than Michelin but the standard rear wheel drive units I glanced at had Michelin.  I didn't look at all the PC units nor did I ask but assumed the difference in tire brand was probably  related to the 4wd conversion.  Could have been a bad assumption on my part.

You may want to update your model, year, etc. on this forum.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Hancock was a highly rated tire. I believe they are one of the largest tire manufactures  in the world. No idea how they stack up against Michelin but I wont be surprised if they rank right up there with the best of them.

About a month and a half ago, we had stopped at PC t get some work done. Speaking to Earl we found that they were offering an extended version of the 2552 for longer beds. We ordered one then and there. While work was being done, I was walking around the bare chassis and noticed the new ones had Hancook tires. I showed Earl who had not known of the change. We went inside and he called the Ford rep who stated that Ford has gone to Hancook tires for all motorhome units. I researched Hancoo (WH)k  quit a bit and found mostly good reports. Guess I'll get my new unit with Japanese rather that French tires. (WH)

So, the latest Consumer Reports on tires (Dec 2016) rates Michelin at the top and Hankook a ways down the list at #7... as a lifelong Ford truck owner, this is a bit disappointing  >(  www.consumerreports.org/tires/best-tire-brands

ron & toni and others...For the record, Hancook tires are Korean made and do get very good quality scores.  While Michelin is a french company the majority of the tires for the N. American market are manufactured right here in US and that includes all 16" tires for motorhome application.   Thanks, Ron G.

Ask Kermit or Earl about that.

Just confirmed that's what we are getting. Not happy since like others we were told Michelin tires. Not crazy about Korean tires.
