RV Cover for 28 foot 2552
« on: November 18, 2014, 07:46:03 pm »
We are looking for a RV Cover, but have not found one that is 28 foot and wide enough for our RV.  Does anyone have suggestions of where to locate one that will fit the 28 foot 2552?

Would appreciate your suggestions?  Names of manufacturers or sources.  It's cold already so we would love to find one quickly.

If you haven't been able to find a cover, what other methods or adaptations have you used to cover.

Calmark with make a custom cover, but it's expensive and would not be ready for 2 months.

Call Phoenix.  They may have a source for a custom-fit cover.  Custom covers fit right to prevent wind damage to the RV's finish from flapping cover material.  Water runs off better, and some even have a zippered opening for the main entry door.  That allows you to get inside with the cover otherwise undisturbed.

We have the 2100 and struggled with that. Covers for that length RV were not wide enough so went with the smallest we could that would fit. Our first cover was too big in length and height.  Took a lot of creative nipping and tucking and still it drug on the ground and froze in snow melt (at 9,200 in the Rockies) doing damage when we wanted it out in April. We were also concerned about potential damage from rubbing in the high winds. That did not happen and we were able to mend the damage and use it a few more winters. This fall (2014) we purchased one for a 22 foot travel trailer from Camping World ($296 total). Seems very well made and fits like a glove with the use of one additional tie above the windshield/below the bull nose and we were good to go. Problem with a stock motorhome cover on a PC is our units are narrower and shorter in height than most motorhomes. Whereas the travel trailer is closer to our height and width. Won't know the whole story until we go to remove the cover but at this moment am very happy.

An old thread I know but wondering if anyone has found a cover that will fit the 2552?

Will update on use of the travel trailer cover on our 2100.
It has worked great for two winters. No scraping or other damage from wind. Easy on/off and there is a zipper that falls at the rear door. Our PC is now parked under a carport roof so cover should last much longer.

Try the web site Cal Mark RV covers.  I have used them twice for my Pleasureway and my new 2015 PC 2350.  They are pricey.  The 2350 cover was $750. They are custom made for the specific RV.

Thank you both for the info. No option for a rv carport and inside storage is $250  a month so a cover it will have to be. The narrow shape makes it a bit tough to find one off the shelf. I sent Phoenix an email asking if they had anything or any guidance  but never heard back. I guess that's a No.

Just heard back from one place offering custom fit covers.   Starting at $1400.00..  Think I will take a diff route, that's too rich for my blood.

I have a question.
Why do you need to cover the RV.

I never have and don't see any reason I would need to, what am I missing?

I have a question.
Why do you need to cover the RV.

I never have and don't see any reason I would need to, what am I missing?

I live in the low desert. As an example of the heat this past summer we hit 124 degrees F. The only place that matched it was death valley.  Direct sun in that magnitude is much more severe than if it was indirect, IE covered.  Covered parking in storage lots is hard to come by. Very few ever come available and most have a waiting list. Indoor storage  runs 250 a month if I pay a year in advance. And that's if they have an opening. That's the cheapest place, another local indoor starts at 400 per month. One other option  one place offers is buying a unit. It would be sold as an industrial condo. In order to make sure I could resell Id want to go bigger than what I need and would be looking at 50K.

So a cover looks to be a  pretty good option.

But to answer your question of what are you missing in shortest terms.. SUN lots of SUN

I hear ya! I grew up on the east side of Cleveland and never saw the sun. I joked about it with John and he didn't believe me until we drove up into Ohio - we hit full cloud cover at the state line and stayed in it throughout the visit. As we drove home we exclaimed "Look, blue sky" and directly under that cloud edge was a sign that said "Welcome to Pennsylvania"

What about testing out a local Boat canvas company. I have had custom things made several times and you pick the quality of canvas and they sew it up... and if you want openings so you can open doors and get in to nose around or open house door you could have openings made. Depends on how much convenience you want.. canvas companies can sew up great covers.
