Onan generator

We have a 2004 2350 with a propane fired Onan generator. The Question I have, should there be a cover on the side to totally enclose the generator? As it is now you have the small access door on the MH. When you flip that down you a looking at the generator controls - start switch and breaker . It looks like there should be a cover to keep all the road spray out of this area.
After this last winter trip to Arizona and coming home in a lot of snow and slush. The generator was hard starting and now it wont fire at all. I hate the prospect of dropping generator down out of its spot to see what's wrong.
My thoughts are that if that area was sealed off to the elements every thing would not be so corroded.

Call onan. I lost a door once and the replacement cost me $100. You have to make sure the bottom of thr door is in the track before locking it in.

Yep, there should be a door with lever-latches up high and a continuous lip below for attachment.  The door does more than protect from splashing.  It forces "cooling" air through the unit in a specific manner.  Running for extended periods without the door might actually overheat something internal.

HERE is a brand new one on ebay for $80 +$13 for shipping with a "Make An Offer" option.  Offer $70 with $10 for shipping.  Maybe the seller will take your offer.

Here is an Onan with the door installed.  Note the two black upper latches.
