Cleaning the rubbery seam material

Here is a though Gail,

Roll up a paper towel tightly and dip it in laundry bleach and let the bleach sit and soak on the stained plastic.  Maybe it will bleach-out the stain.  It would be worth a try if you did not already try it.  If it works well, I would follow up with scratch remover to polish the plastic to a gloss finish to resist re-staining.

I was just about to post what Kermit recommended, Clean UP which is a mild solution of bleach and water.  Great minds think alike.

Your idea of the bleach soaked,rolled up, paper towels stuffed in that tight area above the windshield is a good one.  I also wanted to protect that area once we got it clean.   We'll use our Turtle Wax Scratch remover as you suggested.

As I mentioned to Kermit,  I didn't want to use any product that would damage the painted areas around the seams.   Apparently diluted bleach should be fine.

We can't get to it today but will post the outcome.

Great outcome, the diluted bleach solution worked.   We had just a short period of time to try it out today but got the vertical seam close to the awning bracket  and the horizontal area above the passenger door clean.  Will do the other side and above the windshield another time.
