Hi FT,
I have been monitoring shocks for E-series since 2007. I have concluded the best shock for both comfort and heavy duty performance is the
Koni FSD. I will try to describe how it works as simple as possible. Inside the FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) shock is a valve that allows the fluid within to easily travel between compartments when road conditions are mild. This reduces the feel of the road, offering the best possible ride. But when conditions call for the shock to kick-in, the rougher road increases the flow of fluid which shuts the valve with the force from more fluid which then the shock is doing it's job in heavy duty fashion. So you get both mild and wild in one shock.
Koni-FSD shocks have been installed for many years on high end class A rigs. Just a year or two ago, Koni finally offered them for the E350/E450 motor home. They would be on our rig, but back in 2007, I went with one of the best at the time (Koni/Bilstein), Koni's adjustable shocks. They are set to our rig weight which is a permanent heavy duty setting, equivalent to the HD Bilsteins. The only concern getting the Koni-FSD is the whopping $725 price tag. I would shop around to see if they can be found cheaper than direct from Koni.
