Travels with Sparky and Minou

One of the main reasons we have an RV is to bring our pets with us while traveling.  Here are some of our photos taken during our first year with our Phoenix Cruiser.  Minou the cat is very shy, so she is seldom in any photo.  Sparky the dog always likes to be in the picture, so he's in most of them.

Looks like it was a wonderful first year on the road for all concerned!  Sparky is a doll, and Minou cuts quite an imposing figure.  Any tips for traveling with pets?  I like the look of Sparky's harness--looks very secure, but comfy.  How has it gone for Sparky as far as any dealings with other campers' pets?  I'm curious, as I will be traveling with a dog soon.  Thanks for sharing the photos!

Minou's favorite spot is also our cat Snickers' favorite spot. She feels protected like she is in a cave, but can keep an eye on us no matter where we are in the MH. She has her own blanket on the foot of the bed under there as well as her stuffed Jack-a-lope that she uses as a head rest. We have some command hooks on the side of that cabinet (no TV back there) and John hangs a shirt on them that closes off that side so the cave feels safer.

Hi Carol.
Sparky wears a STEP-IN Mesh EZ Wrap Bark Appeal Dog Harness when outside and while we're traveling in our car or RV.  Like you say, it's secure and comfy for him.  We attach the harness to a lease attached to a seat belt buckle so that he has some freedom to move about and/or jump up in Sharon's lap as we're traveling.  Here's one site that will give you more info on this and other harnesses:

Sparky is a very respectful dog, both at home and on the road.  We seldom have any issues with him and other campers' pets as we always walk him with his harness and lease.  He does get over-excited when we happen to pass close to large dogs or large-breed puppies, so we need to remind him not to bark at them.  A water spray bottle is a great help to get his attention.

When we leave him in the RV for an extended period of time, we leave a Kong filled with treats to keep him happy and occupied.

Your cat Snickers is beautiful!
Minou is 17 years old and has traveled with us in an RV all of her life.  She's a total indoor kitty, so does love the "cave" in the PC.

Snickers is 18 and has been the camper house queen for 10 months now but seems extremely content. She goes outside once in a great while to sniff around and peer under the rig but then wants right back in. She has a harness and leash but really doesn't like them so she'd rather stay inside than get the harness strapped on.
