Eurochairs
« on: May 05, 2012, 02:07:00 pm »
We are getting ready to leave for the summer next Saturday.  Naturally there are things to do. Currently the focus is the two eurochairs in conjunction with the flip-out side table. Today I finished raising the chairs 1-1/2 inches because they were too low for eating and writing at the table.  Now I am pondering on how to restrain them during travel in case of an accident.  Has anyone in the group resolved this concern?

The side table is next.  Is it possible to remove the front face by taking out the three screws on each side?

Ours came with stud & clamp things which held the chairs secure.  Linda took off the clamps & slipped the D ring of dog collar over stud & tightened the wing nut.  Then the collar was put around the base ring which allows a bit of movement, ?10inches or so?, and we unsnap the collar when we want to really move a lot. I have not yet had the chairs move enough to need the restraint the collar offers.  Oh, the collar is a  nylon web collar with those plastic snap together clippy doo widgets.

As we had the first Euro chairs installed, the stud mounts in floor may not be what you have.

We took the clamps off when w took delivery & haven't used since - probably not the safest, but they havent moved.

Hmm.  Maybe they did not install restraints in our unit because they found that they were not used. The salesman at Punta Gorda said basically the same thing that you say.

Never-the-less, the possibility of flying chairs from a strong forward collision haunts me.

Today I decided on brad-hole T-nuts imbedded in the floor for minimum visibility.  I am fabricating hold-down brackets accordingly.

I finished the hold-down clamps today.  They allow the chairs to be positioned out of the way for travel and re-positioned at the table for lunch... all without removing the bolt that secures each clamp. At camp the clamps come off so we can sit side by side to watch TV.

Dick,
We plan on heading up that way in a couple of weeks from Punta Gorda FL. How many nights will you be on the road? Are you going through Indianaopolis then on up on 31? Where do you plan on spending the nights?

I tried to send you a Private Message a few weeks ago but got no response. Had some questions about your 2910. Did you receive it?
