2350 leans to passenger side

Hi,
When looking at the back at my 2011 2350, it visibly leans to the passenger side.  I had it to my RV place for some warranty work and had them take a look.  Let me mention that it is not overloaded.  We have only had the motorhome for a month and aside from driving home from PA to MA, it has not been used, due to elder care issues.  It seems a lot of us are having those issues! 

The service place did acknowledge the lean, but not find any problems with springs, etc.  They mentioned possible "uneven chassis loading"  but did not feel it would be a problem.  If I was still concerned, I could add an "air bag".  They also felt it would not effect tire wear.  My other concern would be the inconvenience of always having to level the motorhome.  As I have mentioned before, this is our first motorhome.   Anyone with any thoughts or comments about the lean or the addition of the air bag?

I cannot say that our 2007 2350 has a lean in either direction.  I'll have to study it closer.  But many motor homes suffer from a slight lean.  If you are considering heavy duty front and rear sway bars, they might help counter-act that a bit, but unlikely to eliminate a lean.

The 2350's water tank is on the passenger side which when full adds 340 pounds.  The large under-bed storage there may be loaded with heavy gear.  Also, the slideout option adds at least 400 pounds to the driver side which you and we do not have.  There are so many influential factors why a motor home has a lean.

It is important to load up the motor home as if to go on vacation, then take it to a truck/RV suspension shop for a front wheel alignment.  It won't take out your lean but will help wth handling.

A truck spring shop can resolve that fairly simply by increasing the spring stack on the low side.  I had to have it done on the first MH  I had.  When I had it done in the early 90's it was relatively inexpensive, under $200.  Probably a toss-up today, cost wise between that idea and airbags.  Airbags on my HR Ambassador where problematical from the start and that is the only  suspension it had.

My 2010 2551 had a lean, although I didn't notice it until PJCorey mentioned it regarding her 2010 2551.  Talked with Kermit last summer and he said they installed a 1/2" spacer between the spring pack and axle on the driver side to compensate for the slide.  He said they had since discovered that the spacer was not really needed and no longer put them in, and that I should have mine removed.  I did and it now sits level.

You might look at where the spring pack sits on the axle and see if both sides look the same, no spacer.  Also a call to Kermit to would be a good idea.

I don't know if they do anything differently with or without a slide.  Our 2350 motorhome does not have a slide.  Not sure where to look underneath, so we'll give Kermit a call.

Thought I would keep you up to date on my "lean".  I spoke with Kermit yesterday.  It seems the 2350s, on the Ford E350 do not have the spacer bar.  He also has told me this is the first time he has heard of a lean with the 2350s.  He wanted photos, which I have sent to him.  Hopefully, he will get back to me quickly.  I'll let you know the outcome.

Just as an update, Kermit has reviewed the photos I sent of our "lean".  He is sending a spacer bar to install between the spring and the axle.  It should arrive by Weds.  I have an appointment to get it installed for Thurs.  Hopefully, this will end the "lean".

Our tilting motorhome has been corrected!  We now have a level rig.  The spacer bar and longer U bolts that Kermit sent us did the trick!  It even feels better to drive.  Kermit was great!
We are looking forward to our first real trip.  We have had to postpone 4 times.  Once my mother has improved, we will be off to Maine for a few days.

Glad the fix worked. We have such good things to say about Kermit, Carol, Amanda and all the folks at the factory. They are super!

I know how it feels to have to cancel trips. We had to cancel going to the Keys because of my mother's hospitalization. She is better now and we are heading out in July for 2 monthes. Can't wait!!! We will be in Maine, Nova Scotia, PEI. Oh yeah, can't forget Mattapoisett MA.

- My wife Irene had a severe MS exaserbation
- Our son ended up in a hospital to control his Crones disease
- I was laid-off work for over a year, over-lapping two camping/traveling seasons.
- Irene started a new job, and had no vacation time.
 
Many people go through a stormy season or two or 3 or......whatever.  At least we got through them and are back to doing great things.
