Forward A/C Wiring Run
« on: January 07, 2023, 08:18:28 am »
Hello,

I've been considering upgrading the A/C units to the new Truma Aveta Eco on my 2021 2552.  Unfortunately, two of them won't fit in the current location (middle two openings) because they are too long.  I'm considering swapping the front fan and the A/C so the A/C is in the forward opening and the fan is next to the kitchen.  I think this makes more sense anyway.  As the factory does it, they are too close together.  Does anyone have an idea of how the romex is routed up to the forward A/C?  I assume I'll have to remove ceiling panels to rework the wiring.

I have a forward AC in my 3100. It is totally separate in it's wiring from the rest of the 30 Amp wiring. It has a completely separate 30AMP outside connection, fuse box and wiring to the AC. I've found this wiring pattern to be a great help when you use other electrical equipment. When we use the microwave we only use the separate front AC so we don't overload the fuse panel.

We simply hook up the OEM 30amp connection to 50amp service and use a dogbone to reduce it to 30amps. Then we use the 30amp service and connect it to the forward AC. that way we never pull too many amps. But we can also hook a dogbone to the 50amp service and split it to 2 30amp services.

Wow! Had never heard of the Truma AC.
Looks promising but not a lot of details on the web site yet.
They say it is not available for aftermarket, do you know when it will be?
Good Luck!

They are available now.  Unfoturnately, there is no way they will fit on our 2552.  Both front openings will interfere with the solar panels.  The Truma is super wide much like the RecPro (Houghton) 3400.  If I were to move the solar panels forward a few inches, I could fit the Truma or RecPro in the normal opening to replace the Dometic, but the length I believe would interfere with the second A/C and a Truma or RecPro would interfere with the rear fan opening.  I think the Coleman Mach NDQ in the standard locations will be my best bet.

Have you considered the Houghton 9.5K (2800) low profile?  It should fit the existing space.
