Norcold N7XL Fridge
« on: June 25, 2020, 12:53:47 pm »
Recently got our new 2351D and am finding more surprises every day. It seems that the Norcold N7XL fridge has no storage latch as did our older unit. I email Norcold and they told me it did. I couldn't find it. The lady was quite indignant with me and insisted it did have such a latch. Took pictures of the latch assembly, and double checked the model number so I had everything right. I then asked to please indicate on the photos where the latch might be and how to deploy it. Her last email was that that model does not come with such latch. I should improvise something.
So here I am, asking for help. Putting my fustration aside and trying to thing logically Iturn to you for help.
Anyone else out there with that model? If so what do you use when in storage?

thanks
Jack is what we call our PC 2351D, and he has taken us from campers to RV'ers and loving it. We're no longer Team Bob. Just Jack the RV!

Garmp,

I would send an email or call PC to inquire about the storage latch.  I looked at the manual and the only mention of a storage latch is that you should use the storage latch when storing.   But no description of where or what that "storage latch" may be.

Leaving the doors open isn't a great idea.   On an older RV, I did that and almost always forgot to close the doors when I took it out of storage.

I ended up buying these back then:

I leave the fridge and all other cabinet doors open during storage to let everything breathe as best as possible.  How far open?  It depends on how often I find myself inside our PC.

This time during the extended off season, I placed one of our Shaklee Airsource 3000 units inside to maintain freshness.....just in-case.

Ron,

I agree with that concept of leaving open. However, for me, opening the front door, starting the engine and starting to drive out of the storage lot doesn't prod my brain to look at the refrigerator doors and close them until they swing out and bounce off something.   With my PC, the storage latch eliminates the swinging.

The Norcold in my 2019 3100 has NO storage latch.  I also verified this with PC when visiting them for warranty work.  I use a towel and wedge between the two doors to leave it cracked a little.  Also, and may be obvious, there is no latch for the doors when traveling.  Just push until it "clicks".

FYI, the fridge light stays on constantly.  There is no switch for the light.  I learned this from a SOB blog.   Put your phone on video and place inside the fridge.  Close the door for a few seconds.  Then watch the video.  The light remains "on" when the door is closed.

Cheers  :)(:

That seems a great application for an LED light bulb.  I wonder if Norcold utilized LED technology for the constant-on application, to avoid unnecessary hardship on an RV house battery.
