Brake away and safety chains

The short answer is that it does have one, but I can't provide complete details---I didn't do this install myself.  One other thing that I mentioned in that earlier posting is that 10 or 15 years ago I wouldn't have thought twice about it--I did pretty much all of my own mechanical or electrical work.  Sure, to save a few bucks, but primarily to make sure the work was done right.  Now, on the plus side of 75, I find it much tougher to get down underneath things or try to work in tight spots so now I try to find a professional operation that I can depend on to do things the right way.  Dan's Hitch in Elkhart did my setup and they did a great job.

My Stay-In-Play install has a six-wire round plug receptacle  on the Jeep that connects with the standard 7-wire output on the RV.  In addition to controlling the lights that provides the feed to maintain the Jeep battery.  I have a heavy duty electrical system in the Jeep don't think it would be an issue for normal tows, but if you stayed on the road 2-3 days it might.

Thanks Mike, I know how to install one just wondered if it would be needed. I pretty much knew I’d need to install one but thought on a whim I’d check. I really don’t want to deal with running the Jeep at the end of each day as well.

Mike, I installed the stay n play yesterday. Shops wanted 500 + in labor and it didn’t look that difficult. The hardest part was some of the working under the dash. I’m not as agile or small as years ago. Other than a few minutes of how the H*** am I going to get in there it went smooth. It took me 6 1/2 hours and that includes stopping for tea and lunch and a beer break or two.

I purchased the duo for 625 new in the sealed box and a black hawk 2 all terrain with easy connect safety cables for 300. The Roadmaster tow bar was less than a year old. Listed my falcon 2 on Craigslist and it’s being picked up today.

I hope I like the stay n play as much as the reviews I’ve read.

Great news on the install--congratulations!  Sounds like it was well worth your time, and the bonus is that you know exactly where everything is and that the job is done right!

I saw your earlier post on the purchases--you really got a great deal.  Your total cost for your entire tow system is going to be crazy low.  The $500+ quoted labor cost for your brake system is probably about right.  The labor on my install at Dan's Hitch in Elkhart was $1400--but that was the entire tow system from baseplates, brake system, electrical, lights, and the warning lights in the RV.  Also, I know too well about the agility and size issue--as I mentioned earlier, several years ago I absolutely would have done mine, but I've finally reluctantly acknowledged that I can't outrun age.

Let us know how the system works out.  Hope your experience proves to be as good as mine has been.
