rear view camera
« on: September 09, 2019, 09:05:53 pm »
Good Day all,
Anybody have an idea where the fuse is for the rear view camera? Ours will not come on, no power. Looks like it would be a factory type of setup with the camera screen in the visor.
2005 2900 dual slide.

thanks
Denny P

I  replaced the non-working visor screen  camera on my  '06 last year  with a Tadi Brother's  camera that has a rear-view mirror mounted screen.
Much improved, larger, color screen in a a handier spot.    In trouble shooting the old one, I located the fuse, which was  still fine,  in-line in the
wiring, down behind  the left kick panel area.          Only 3 amps, if memory serves.

Jimmer,
when you replaced your unit with a Tadi brothers unit, how did you power the rear camera? Satisfied with the unit?
thanks

Denny,   I powered the rear camera with the nearest marker light.   Very easy,  just remove the lens and splice in to the circuit.    Remember to seal up the lens again.    Obviously the lights must be on for it to work.    Up front for the
screen I tapped into the existing wire for the original screen.  It had a hot wire when the ignition was on.      There is a small antena that i velcro-taped to the upper part of the windshield, near the screen.
I'm very happy with the "wireless"  transmission system.    Nice, crisp picture.    Have had no interference.    Rough road can cause the picture to jump a little.        The visor model doubles as your rear-view mirror now.  Slick.
You can pull the forward part of the headliner, next to the windshield, down enough to "bury" the wires behind it.
Jim
Let us know how you make out.

I’m not as handy as Jim so I took mine to the RV shop when I had almost the same symptoms. I thought it was a fuse too but the whole unit (Cam, GPS, radio, Bluetooth, etc) was dead, It worked intermittently for a week or so before it totally quit. Had a new one put in about a month ago and it is doing exactly what the other one did. I’m taking it back Thursday for another one. It's still under warranty so it's not too painful. The tech didn’t have anything good to say about the Xite Infotainment units. Mine is a 2015 2910D.

Toorusty, i had the same problem with my excite radio but was out of warranty.  Went to best buy for a pioneer radio with free install.  Rear view didn't work but a call to factory indicated the cable to cam has to be grounded which is part of excite radio.  After return to best buy geeks with this info it works like a charm.  As I recall, i think PC now installs pioneer radios with Bluetooth, rearview etc.  They were not happy with the exite radios.

Just got back from the shop. The problem with my NAV system was the SD card. The distributor sent one complementary and it seems to be working fine now.
