Peeling Cab Seats
« on: July 24, 2019, 01:57:59 pm »
Understand this has been discussed.  The seats on our 2017 are cracking and peeling.  Have scheduled an appointment at factory on July 30.  Was informed they would remove seats and send out to be recovered, taking 1-2 days.  Is this the fix experienced by others with this issue?  All advice appreciated.

I would request the new covers be made of real leather, I believe they use top grain leather on new PCs today, so stick with that solution.  Recovering with the same vinyl material could re-introduce the problem.  Since the recession of 2008, that vinyl material has been supplied from China.  They are not consistent with their processing and manufacturing methods.  Just avoid the risk.

I agree with Ron. On my 2011 the seat covers are so thin it’s almost as if the are magically disappearing. I need to have them reupholstered now and am reluctant to hear what it may cost.

I don't know who is doing PC work now. I would stay away from Pauls Seating. They were the ones that installed the so called ultraleather a few years ago, and maybe that is what you are having problems with. The real Ultraleather TM is a great product but can cost 10x more than the material that Paul pushed off on PC buyers. Besides, their actual workmanship is poor. If Pauls is doing the current leather work I would be extra cautious.
There was a post with pictures some time back of another Elkhart company doing work, it looked good from the pictures, I would check them out.
