now thats a heck of a mess

We drove up to meet and visit with Bob Anderson and his wife Chris at Buckskin State park, what a great couple. Spent a couple hours opening and closing almost every door I could find. Really like the 2551 and thought the 2552 would be great! Buuuuuuut, mama has other ideas. She thinks the 2551 was small. Our class A is a full body width. We have the two chairs up front drive and passenger plus a long sofa, dinette and a captains chair behind the passenger chair, lots of room. I made the gross error of showing Sharon the 3100. Oh my God, what a mistake. The 3100 is almost 6 feet shorter and will do what I want in our park at Pismo Beach, we will fit in all sites. Just a little concerned. Sharon is having a hard time and as far as me, just taking it as easy as possible, life's short. But it will depend on Stuart, what kind of an arrangement we can come to. billy

So Billy, what about all your questions, did they get answered?  Now would be a good time to go back through them and review them if you haven't already. Why are you down sizing and just what are you willing to give up if anything to do it? We went from a 35" Winnebago class A down to the PC 2350 and are amazed at how much it holds. We gave up the dinette and use TV snack trays to eat off of. For formal dinning we set up the PC table in front of the sofa. The smaller size means we can go just about anywhere we want and be able to park it like a crew cab pickup. We really like to smaller size but we also understand that it might be to small for some folks. That is why they make so many different sizes.

Hi Tom, Got all the questions answered, Bob & Chris were just great, let us prod through everything. THEN we got on line and mama saw the 3100  :'(   We have a 36 foot Hurricane and it was something I wanted. Well after a year and half, it's just to big. I'm pretty handy and thought we could put the dinette down, buy an extra cushion for the table and still have the cushion for the back rest, then use it as a sofa? Sharon has always had a dinette and sofa! I to appreciate the smaller size, the 2552 is 27'6" and that would put us in any site at our park at Pismo Beach, Ca.   Right now we are looking at the 2552 & 3100. If we can decide on one we will buy but WHO KNOWS?   billy

Billy,

I think I "Got It" reading through your idea about the dinette.  Basically your thought is to set up the dinette for sleeping, then add deep and tall backrest cushions to convert it into a couch, right?  If you rigged it to work with a smaller board in-place of the dinette table, you could convert it into a "U" shape couch.  Did I understand you right?  If so, were you planning to get that dinette in a slide out, or NO-slide out like we have?

Billy, If you need to buy an "extra cushion" for the dinnette or want to design a different type of seating, talk to Staurt about what you want.  Phoenix is very good about customizing a new rig while it is being built. I had about twenty things changed on mine, some small like not mounting the coffee pot or fire ext., some not so small, like no rear window or roof rack. I even had them use the E450 instead of the E350, for an additional cost. Phoenix's carpender is very good at making adjustments and Carol can get you just about anything like that "extra cushion". Then it would already be ready when you get the new motorhome.

Yes, with a nice piece of wood instead of the table top, set the dinette up like you would to sleep only & instead of moving the back rest cushions buy one for the bottom. This way you can use the table top, installing fold up legs, when not using, store it. Just an idea. If we come to a decision I'll talk to Stuart. billy
