Cal, this last time it was gummed up do to my not treating I looked i considered changing out the fuel filter but didn’t notice any restriction. I was curious so I cut power to the pump and found it needs the pump.  New pump and filter is about $50.  I’m interested in how this works out so keep us in the loop. For now I’ll just continue on as I have with the exception of forgetting to treat my fuel. I figure even if I put in a shut off I still have to treat the fuel for storage however if this system can be left dry the shutoff is an additional piece of insurance.

Done working, it could be the crap gas we are forced to use in Ca adds to the cause. It’s diff from other states in so much as when a refinery  goes down they can’t ship in gas from other states due to it not meeting ca requirements. That aside you have been lucky, ethonal fuel starts breaking down in a couple weeks. It doesn’t take long to gum up jets and stick floats. Even ethanol free fuel starts breaking down within weeks where leaded fuel like we used to have and is still used in aircraft can sit of 50 years and is still good. A couple years ago a bunch of fuel was removed from very old military aircraft and sold at a premium.  I’m not advocating placing lead back in our gas but we don’ need corn.

Last winter I let my 1985 Honda v30 sit for three weeks and the carbs needed to be pulled apart. I hate ethonal fuel. Feed the corn to fatten the cattle and leave the gas alone. But that will never happen with politicians on both sides involved.

Thanks for  the lowdown on the fuel system. I am going to install an on/off switch for the pump, maybe fish the wires up inside the coach next to the remote start switch.
Goin' where the wind goes...

There are 410 hours on our KY series Onan Microquiet (if you're deaf).  I follow the same procedure as DONEWORKING, regularly exercising the generator.  Once a month if it has not been in use.  So far, knock wood, the unit has required only the usual maintenance.   Previous owner had the exhaust re-routed so that a pipe could be added to vent the exhaust to roof level.  A nice feature -- excepting that this addition goes directly across the oil drain plug.  Managed to work around that.  Although some of the neighborhood kids now know as few German swear words.

JATRAX, great idea on moving the WH off from the generator. I had been thinking about how much one can run off the generator...when deer huntin, two coffeee pots running at the same time would stall our generator.
Thanks, Tom
