The nicer ceramic heaters you listed are so much bigger than we are looking for. I want something as small as we have today.  It stores just about anywhere in our PC and easy to step over and get around in our no-slide 2350.  We don't have the floor space for a big heater.  Still, very interesting information.  Thanks for sharing that C.R. data.

I'd like to see and handle a Holmes, even test it in the store.  Size, handling, heat output, and fan noise are factors.....and if the cord gets too warm.  I'll have to see if our local Walmart stocks them.

Ron, take a look at this:

https://www.amazon.com/Vornado-Whole-Vortex-Heater-Black/dp/B00MB4BQ0G/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1476734981&sr=8-5&keywords=vornado+heater+fan

I own two Vornado heaters and two Vornado fans.  The advantage of these to me is they are very quiet...and we are light sleepers.  Also, the vortex design eliminates hot and cold spaces by distributing the air over a conical area.  The three heat settings are also convenient.  The disadvantage is they are little larger.  Vornado also makes the "baby" for nursery use but I know nothing about it and have not researched those smaller units.

The one linked will keep a 12x14 workout room in our home comfortable in below freezing conditions.  Now, that is in a very tight, well insulated home and not a motorhome.

I have the older version (5+ years) of the Lasko 754200 for $24.50. Love it!  Is very small, puts out a lot of heat, can be set at variable temps, and fan is not loud enough to wake us at night when on low.
SIDE NOTE: If you read the rules of any RV park (which we all agree to when signing the registration), most forbid use of an electric heater.

These are absolutely the best ceramic heater for RV use.   100% safe, manual or automatic operation, variable speed fan, etc.

https://www.amazon.com/Pelonis-Classic-Ceramic-Heater-Outdoor/dp/B000KKMCS8

They are sold under msny brand names, look for ceramic disk heater.

The electric heater "issue"  is more of a fire issue than a power issue.   After all, air conditioners draw as much power as these heaters do,and you don't see them being prohibited.

Most electric (standard hot wire heater like a toaster) get hot enough to ignite nearby flamable materials, like curtains or paper products.   The ceramic heaters and oil filled heaters do NOT create a fire hazard.

I made a purchase.

We went to Farm & Fleet, Mejiers, and Walmart.  I really liked THIS COMFORT ZONE CERAMIC HEATER AT WALMART FOR $16 primarily for it's compact size, thermostat control, tip-over safety feature, and price.  I tested it side by side with the heater it is replacing.  The cord is uniformly & gently warm across the entire length of cord when running at the highest 1500w heat setting.  There were no hot spots on the cord nor on the unit itself.  I ran it while it was sitting on carpet and the heater does not heat up the carpet at all, so no worry putting it on the carpet in our PC.  The fan makes a very nice comfortable white noise.  It is not loud, just noticeable.

Keep in-mind that our PC is a 2350 with no slide-out, a little better sealed house with less volume of air than most of you PC owners are heating.  We also have thermal windows.  Comparing it to the heater we are replacing that cycled on and off on the highest 1500w setting, I feel it will meet our needs for cold spring & fall, and high altitude seasonal camping.  I question if it would be enough under sub-freezing conditions, and surely inadequate in colder-yet conditions, but having two of these heaters working together on separate circuits should do it.

Here is the heater.  It is compact, has a 6 foot cord, 750w & 1500w settings, runs as a cool fan, thermostatic control, tip-over safety feature, and a handle in back.  It is a single speed fan.

I won't be returning this to the store.  It's a keeper.

With regards to the heater you mention, I imagine anything that burns a fuel consumes oxygen which would be considered a really bad idea to use in an enclosed motor home.
Hi Ron,
Glad you got a heater that you like.

I did want to clear one thing though, "oil filled" is just that, filled with non-toxic mineral oil, and it has an internal electric heating element.  Sort of like a hot water tank I guess...   Anyway, no burning of anything, it is electric.  But the element heats the oil up so no fan or open coils.  It is just a metal box with nice warm oil inside that radiates the heat.  I have had one under my desk for 5 years and it is really nice and totally silent.

But as I said maybe not want you want I just wanted to clear this for anyone else reading the thread in the future.

Best,
John

Well well, I learn something new all the time.  An oil filled heater is not burning the oil.  It is a sealed heating element.  Thank you John for the education.
