I have yet to see a 2552 with the dinette in the inventory selection? Why is this?

All of the picture's on the inventory page always show the 2552 floor plan with the dinette, but go down to the pages showing the inside of the RV and it always shows the sofa?

The 2552 comes standard with the dinette.  The sofas (either 54" or 60") are optional.  It can be confusing when many of the 2552s are made with an optional sofa.

We had a 2551 with a sofa and tiny table.
We bought a 2552 with a dinette. We had them make it wider than standard so four persons could be seated.

We love the big table and never have to take it up or down. There are only 2 of us and we did not need an additional bed.
Plenty of room to walk by even with the slide-out not extended.

We are moving around Florida this winter, read our blog: http://khflorida.blogspot.com/  ;)

John,
When will you be at WP Franklin? We will be there 2/18. 2/19, 2/20 leaving on the 21. Barry and Sue will be there as well. It would be cool if we were all there at the same time.

Keelhauler--
Your blog is beautiful.  Great pictures and very helpful travelogue.  Have you considered letting Phoenix put it up on their blog page ("Cruisers in the Wild")?  Mine is still the only one there and it sure would be nice to have company!

Quick Trip,

Most people are attracted to the reclining couch rather than the dinette.

Like Keel Hauler, we enjoy having our dinette a whole lot.  Our trips would be messed up without it.  As long as you don't need a double bed there, the dinette works great with the 3rd captain seat.  At least it does for us.  Eating and late night table games inside is a true joy.  If considering a dinette, I advise to get the memory foam leather cushions instead of the standard cloth with soft foam.  We started out with the standard soft foam and later switched to the leather memory foam which is much more comfortable.  I am 5'-11" and had to sleep for 3 nights on the dinette converted into a bed when I fell ill on one vacation.  The memory foam is very comfortable to sleep on as well as sit on.  The size also worked well with my 5'-11" tall body.

Pictured here is our model 2350 with the leather/mem-foam dinette, 3rd captain seat, and no slide out.  We've owned our rig for 8 years now.  If we had it to do over again, we would order it the same.....well, we might consider model 2351 which came out much later, the same plan but 1 foot longer.

Keep in-mind our dinette is 8 years old.  The dinette today has a different system for the table, replacing the two posts with a single outer leg and mounted to the wall on the other side to provide more leg room.

Here is another thing I like about a dinette in the slide-out.
Really big accessible drawers.

Keel Hauler, we are now in competition...let the games begin  roflol

For others considering a dinette in a slide-out or not....

Our NO slide-out dinette, we have a flat floor...no step up, no slide out walls, and we have a higher ceiling.  Like all PC dinettes without a slide out behind the driver or passenger, our dinette utilizes a portion of the angled transition wall as seen in the two floor plans below.  So a 2552 with a no-slide dinette gives you more available wall to include a pull-out pantry, much larger over-head cabinets, and also more dinette head room.  This compared to having the dinette inside a slide out.

There are other considerations with a slide out such as cost, weight, dirt, bugs, air & water leaks, noise, long term reliability, etc.  You give up much for 2 feet of open floor space when parked.  Yet it is obvious that the slide out is most popular, my wife and I in the minority with our thinking.  I simply want to outline the differences for people who don't realize the benefit in not getting the slide out for the 2552, and with other models too.

Drawers versus no drawers in the dinette benches....
Our dinette bench seats without drawers offer more storage and accommodate the heaviest of items such as heavy packs of bottled water, soda, tool box, jack, etc. for they rest on the carpeted floor.  Access is from two places, from above by removing the bottom cushion, and from the front through the doors seen in our green dinette pictures.  If ordering a new PC, you can request drawers or doors.  Admittedly the huge drawers Keel Hauler have, offer great convenience.  But if heavy weight and bulk storage is your priority, consider doors, not drawers.

Note Keel Hauler's thicker cloth cushions.  Our original standard low density foam cushions were as thick as that.  The thinner but more dense memory foam we have today (both for seat and back rest) make the dinette much more roomier & comfortable, more supporting and easier to get into and out from.  You gain more leg room and more distance between your gut and the table.  The memory foam is better for sleeping on as well.  When I sat on our original cushions, my 180 pound rump bottomed out on the hard base, obviously uncomfortable.  No bottoming out on the thinner memory foam cushions.  Keep in-mind our rig was made back in 2007.  Maybe PC-USA changed the standard foam since those days.  If visiting the factory, ask if they would set one of each type of cushion per bench for you to easily compare.
