Issues with 2910D CCC and Microwave/convesction oven?
« on: August 11, 2015, 07:51:10 pm »
Hi: I hope to be retiring in a couple of years and begin traveling. After doing some research and seeing the quality issues some manufactures are having I saw an article on Phoenix Cruisers. So far they seem to fit my perceived needs and quality concerns.

In researching the forums I've seen some older issues with the CCC of the 2910D. Is anyone currently having problems or has this issue been resolved?

Also, with the microwave/convection oven lower and therefore closer to the stove has anyone had any problems?

Thanks for your feedback.

We owned a 2008 2350 and now a 2012 2551, we never had any issues with the microwave/convection in relation to the stove.  We cook most of our meals in the RV and I use both the stove and micro/convec all the time.  Never had any issues.

I haven't seen it in person (only in the video) but when the microwave/convection oven is in the slide the video says it is lower than in the other configurations. I was just wondering if the lower height above the stove was a problem.

We have a 2910 (custom with twin beds) and have had no problems with the microwave being too close to the stove. Just like Sue, I cook all of our meals in the coach and use the microwave, a toaster oven and an electric frypan. We also grill some. My use of the burners is limited--mostly because the electric frypan fits the bill and I use the stove area like a buffet with the stove cover on.

I really like the height of the microwave in the 2910. It is much easier for me to remove food from the microwave. At 5'4", I sometimes had a problem removing hot foods from the microwave when we had our 2551.

I am probably the guy talking about CCC and the 2910.  When I got corner weigths it was apparent that the driver side duals are maxed out.  The only solution to date is twin beds like Gradygal's custom coach where the weight of the bed slide-out is eliminated.

We have a 2007 2350 with the microwave over the stove as shown in the pictures below.  As you can see, we have a vented hood in-between which also includes the tank monitoring panel.  Adding to the height of the microwave, we have louvered vents in between.  As a result, the microwave is mounted way too high for my wife Irene of 5'-1".  She complains about it on every trip.  Replacing the entire section of upper cabinetry, the monitor panel, the microwave oven, & also successfully mating the shifted vent from the wider vented oven to the outside vent, has me nixing the project.  So I remain on-hand to put the food in, check up on it, and take it out for Irene.  I had suggested she use our folding step stool, but she fears loosing her balance while handling the food.

So my comment to the OP is that I wish our microwave/convection oven was vented and mounted as low as our vented hood is today.  That would bring it down 8" which would work out perfect for my wife Irene.  Your primary question concerns safety & reliability.  Sorry, but I don't have the answer for that one.  Only that I would be willing to  take that risk.

Ron, the convection microwave in the newer models is lower than the one you have. We have the 2552 so the oven is not in the slide and is thus in the higher configuration. At 5'5" I don't have any real problem with it. It is a reach up to get food out but we have the same set up at my son's house when we stay there. If it doesn't interfere with cooking on the range top, the lower oven in the 2910 would be nice. I believe that configuration switches the fridge OFF the slide. Can a 2910 owner let us know if you still gain storage space under the fridge? If not, I suspect they put mechanicals there and you gain storage elsewhere (where the mechanicals are in the other models).

So the set up is:
Fridge on slide/oven NOT on slide - oven is higher, more space above cooktop, no storage under fridge.
Fridge NOT on slide/oven on slide - oven is lower, less space above cooktop, possible storage under fridge

The inverter and the breaker panel is under the fridge in our 2910. The micro and stovetop is in the slide opposite.
