slide stops after only going out a foot

2351D. Our dinette slide goes out about a foot then stops. Retract it and get a running start and it makes it sometimes. Sometimes a slight push is needed to go all the way out. The coach is leveled first so there is no drag or binding. What could the cause be. Bad spot on the motor? Bummer gear? Easy fix or Hello Doug?
Thanks
Jack is what we call our PC 2351D, and he has taken us from campers to RV'ers and loving it. We're no longer Team Bob. Just Jack the RV!

Ours did that. It was the slide topper. We think grit got in it and it wouldn't roll out. We helped it with the push and ripped the sleeve toppers riveted connectors right out of the side of the RV. Try blasting the rolling ends of the topper with water. Have one person outside watching the topper when you deploy the slide. If it's the same problem, you'll see the brackets straining. I don't know if you can manually test the topper without deploying the slide.

We had to remove the damaged topper. Doug had to move the brackets since we had ripped the screws out and new screws had nothing to mount to. He pop riveted the old holes. We no longer "help" the slide go out
John, Holly, and sometimes Chloe.

Thanks Holly, Again it's Doug to the rescue. All this hapened on our way to the reunion. Doug & crew (Danny's back) came over, ran the slide a couple of time in & out. Opened a cabinet door took an allen wrench and gave a couple of twist to a panel, ran the slide another time in & out, a couple of more turns and done. Good as new!!!
I have no ides what he turned or how much, just thankful it worked.
Again those guys are GREAT!!!
