Request for comments on newer design LED house lights
« on: March 23, 2022, 01:32:57 pm »
We're planning a trip to the factory for some updates/upgrades for our 2013 2552. I'm putting different posts up for each item to get feedback from people that have the newer components (within last year or two).

Thoughts on LED lights? From pics online they look like little light bars under the cabinets and over the beds and DIFFERENT units on the ceilings.

Any problems? Anything you love? Do any of them have a soft light feature? (We won't be converting our own fixtures. This is totally a factory install question).

Our 2015 model 2551 came with all LED lighting, we love it.  The only issue we ever had is every now (mostly after rough roads) and then, one of the multi LED "bulbs" won't come on.  I just take the cover off, wiggle it bulb back and forth and it's fine.  In the 7 years we've had it, I have only had to replace 2 of the 4 reading lamps.  You have to replace the whole reading light assembly.  Very easy, 2 screws and 2 wire nuts, remove old, wire nut the new one, reinstall the 2 screws... You are done.

Please don't throw away your original twin-tube florescent fixtures.  I will take them off your hands.

No problems with the LED lights. The long lights under the cabinets are touch lights. Touch the end for on & off. There are 5 (adjustable for angle) reading lights, 1 for each bed, 2 over the couch on each end with the touch light in the center & 1 over the single chair. There is no soft setting. The touch lights are bright. Hope this information is what you are looking for.  :)Chuck

My unit is OEM 2019, and I like the LED lights that Phoenix installed.  Although none of them have a "soft light" setting, the LEDs are simple units that provide easy use and great lighting at low energy consumption.  I have had no issues with any of mine at this point, and haven't considered making any alterations---although if I were full-time (like you guys), with constant usage I might find some sort of adjustment I would like.  To my knowledge, Phoenix is still using the same units I have in current coaches, but you might find that they could offer some other types as options when you discuss with them.
