You probably know this, but just a quick reminder that (especially when starting your fridge from hot on propane) the freezer will certainly cool down significantly before the refrigerator section moves appreciably.
The best way to know for sure what is going on inside your unit is with a remote-reading thermometer--this is the one I use:

It can really help your troubleshooting when you know exactly what your inside temperatures are doing.
