How Much Does a 2011 2551 Slide Out Weigh?

Anyone know how much the slide out in a 2011 2551 weighs?

With couch and frig installed or empty, either one.

Need to figure out if my tractor forklift (1500 lbs max) will be enough if I ever need to pull it out.

Many years ago when Phoenix changed their slide out on models 2350 and 2551 to include the fridge, I heard that the old slide-out without the fridge, added roughly 400 pounds to those models.  After the change to include the fridge, the larger slide out added 600 pounds to the over-all rig.  Those were rough estimates, the numbers were compared to ordering the rig without a slide out.

Anyone know how much the slide out in a 2011 2551 weighs?

When I was agonizing over the choice of 2552 or 3100, I asked Kermit what the increase in weight would be (thus reducing my potential payload). He said about a thousand pounds. Keep in mind this was adding the dinette and cabinets as the 2552 already had the couch and refrigerator.

Plus model 3100 is 4 feet longer than model 2552.  There has to be added weight in the extra four feet of floor, walls, and roof.

*Someone* at the factory does probably know how much a slide weighs. And yes, no one on the forum has removed one and seen what it weighs. Except Ron D in a dream.   

 I would think that actually calling the factory and asking might give you two chances of finding out...FAT and SLIM. Here's hoping 'the factory' reads the forum and gets back to us on the thread. Thats about the likeliest scenario I can think of.  Right after they reach out to all the other people on here with NEW coaches and warranty issues. I am sure we will be reading about that soon!

Isnt there a thread here about how hard the factory is to contact about buying things, and more? I am sure its because they are overstaffed on the customer random question line for 10 year old coaches.

All joking aside... the lack of any factory feedback has impressed me here on a factory forum.

But yeah, my reaction was the same as thrutraffic...  LOFL.   

Realistically, if you going to remove a slide, a tractor is not the best option.  I recently pondered this same thing.  In the end, I did not have to remove my slide.  If was going to, however, I would have used a heavy duty custom built dolly, with casters and jacks (yes, I saw it on the internet).  I think this is the smartest approach since you can raise and lower it as much or as little as you need to align it and get it into and out of the hole.  it would give you alot more fine adjustment that you can get with a tractor.  Just my thoughts...

Call a La Mesa RV store  and ask what's the weight difference for a new 2551 with and without.  Just maybe (?)  they will  ask the factory, if you really  sound like you are shopping new rv's.
