Realistically, if you going to remove a slide, a tractor is not the best option. I recently pondered this same thing. In the end, I did not have to remove my slide. If was going to, however, I would have used a heavy duty custom built dolly, with casters and jacks (yes, I saw it on the internet). I think this is the smartest approach since you can raise and lower it as much or as little as you need to align it and get it into and out of the hole. it would give you alot more fine adjustment that you can get with a tractor. Just my thoughts...
