Seems to me that the whole purpose of the transfer switch is to isolate the two sources power. I've read elsewhere to never start the generator while plugged into shore power. Seems to defeat the sole purpose if you ask me. What is the consensus here. I have started generator while plugged in with no issue. Am I lucky?
Cool device Volkeman.
THANKS! It was VERY useful at the festival we were at for the past 12 days. They were having breaker problems, and I was accused of drawing too much power for my 30A service hookup. I was quick to show them EXACTLY how much power was being drawn.

And yes, in mine you can start/stop the generator with shore power connected. But not under load!
The OP posted ""Turns out my husband caused the problem when he turned generator on while electric was hooked up."" but I have NO idea how that diagnosis was reached. Perhaps things are different in a newer 2020 coach. People post many 'facts' here that may or may not apply over all model years.
