Storage Checklist
« on: March 14, 2020, 11:32:13 am »
Hello All -

We are the happy owners of a 2018 2552.  We purchased “Queenie” during the ownership change at the factory so our operator instructions were pretty brief.  This forum has been an invaluable source of information for us camping newbies - kudos to all of you!

My concern now is storage.  Has anyone created a handy dandy checklist they utilize when putting their PC in storage?  If so, I’d sure appreciate a share as we are confused - particularly about the inverter and the battery shut off (which I’ve read about but can’t seem to find on ours).

Thanks in advance and keep up the hand washing!

Presuming you are NOT going to be plugged in during storage:

2 major things to do.... Disconnect the negative battery terminal on both coach and engine batteries!  The disconnect switch does not fully remove all use of the coach batteries.   With both engine and coach batteries disconnected, the inverter doesn't matter.   I use a knife switch on the engine battery and typically just unhook the negative terminal from the coach battery.   With your PC, you have 2 coach batteries... Do not disconnect the jumper that goes between the two batteries, disconnect the 2 black cables that come from behind the battery tray.

Second... Fully rinse and drain both sewage tanks, the fresh water tank and Hot Water Heater, and blow out the water lines.   Then pour RV antifreeze in the shower drain, bathroom drain and kitchen drain.  Use a total of 1 gallon between all 3.

You may want an RV dealer to do the winterization of the tanks and water lines.

Remove ALL food items and clean thoroughly to keep mice at bay. Virginia mice love K-cups....  And keep the fridge doors open.

Great advise by all.

And don't forget to rinse out your coffee maker and take out the garbage.

Turn off propane, especially in enclosed storage if you  are lucky enough to have that. If stored outside, a quality cover is in order.
