Dometic rv thermostat not showing furnace
« on: January 05, 2020, 05:06:13 pm »
Initially there was an E1 Error code. Then the furnace turned off. The propane stove continues to function and the 110 V and 12 V systems seem otherwise intact. We are on shore power and have been at the site for five days.

Read the manual, searched online and reviewed Forums. Found a similar thread [http://www.airforums.com/forums/f37/...a-105148.html]. Reset the thermostat. Held down the program key until program disappeared. Now zone one is blinking with a non-blinking "4" off to the right.

Using the mode switch the unit cycles through off, cool, and fan but not furnace or heat pump. This isn't mentioned nor is it anywhere online I can find. I've also thrown the circuit breaker marked A/C off and then on again several times. and have cycled the DIP SWITCH for the furnace and the heat pump which is located on the roof with the air conditioning unit.

I have followed the reset instructions from the Dometic manual many times but Cannot set the thermostat to auto because it only cycles thru off, fan and air conditioner over and over.

Im also having a battery issue. I bough two interstate GC2-ECL-UTL batteries last Nov. and when I did a draw down test I noticed they went for 13.1 to 12.2 in under 15min while off of shore power. So I may have a bad cell or two and this may or may not be a contributing factor in the Domestic thermostat issue. I have read online if your house batters can not hold a charge your furnace will not start. and the thermostat is not receiving any info that there is furnace in the system.
I will be driving to the Interstate store tomorrow for a battery check up and see if that works.. your thoughts ??

Disconnect shore power
Remove black negative cable from battery (presuming they are 2 6v batteries in series
Plug back into shore power, see if things work now (battery charger should keep 12v circuits fully powered)

Here is the follow up on the Dometic RV thermostat issue.
I took the RV to a Rv service center and the RV tech found a corroded and bad telephone clip connector in the lower unit of the air conditioner. It seems my air conditioner air vents were very dirty and clogged and that had caused the lower unit got through several freeze thaw cycles and the thawing water had gotten in the telephone connector cable that connects to the domestic thermostat and keep the the thermostat from seeing or sensing the furnace. Lessons learned. I need to clean the air vents on the lower air conditioner unit more. and I learned to check the telephone clip connector on the lower unit, if I have the same issue. I had checked the telephone clip connector on the back of the Dometic thermostat on my wall and I had checked the dip switches on the top roof unit but I did not know I had a telephone clip connector on the lower unit. Im good to go.  heartshower
