Lagun table, again for 2552
« on: July 22, 2020, 09:01:32 pm »
Looking at past pictures of subject mounted on either side of slide. Question, when mounted, and looking at the posted pictures, it doesn’t seem like there is clearance for the horizontal bar to rotate more than a few degrees without hitting the vertical wood trim on the slide or the pantry.  I see that the table will rotate on the arm, but not the arm.  Looking for something to just sit coffee cups on while sitting on the sofa, so don’t need a large table top.  Don’t think I want to block out the lagun Mount to make clearance.  Am I seeing that right?

We have the Lagun table mounts on our 2351, in fact we were the first to request them on a PC.  I believe you are seeing it correctly as the horizontal bar will interfere with the vertical trim if rotated enough.  The location of where the bracket is mounted to the table gives us a lot of flexibility of where the table is located as you rotate (the table also rotates on the horizontal bar). Since our table is a rectangle and not a square, just by rotating the table top the table can be closer to you while sitting if interference occurs with the horizontal bar and the vertical trim.

If you are just looking for a place to sit coffee cups, have you considered the following?  I have installed one on each side of the slide for use while traveling.  They fold up out of the way when not in use.  They are a lot less expensive than the Lagun mounts.

https://www.amazon.com/SEACHOICE-79461-Folding-Adjustable-Holder/dp/B000N9OGZ8/ref=asc_df_B000N9OGZ8/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312062016371&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13476456260470043996&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9022072&hvtargid=pla-645370701758&psc=1

If you are looking for something bigger, have you considered a smaller folding table top similar, but narrower than what is typically installed to extend the kitchen counter top in front of the door entry?  The thought is to mount on the wall of each slide wall.  Fold up when in use and fold down when they are in the way.

Just a couple of ideas.  Let me know if you have more questions on the Lagun tables.  They are still one of our favorite upgrades that we made to our PC.

JJ, I have an email into Lagun about my question.  They are not taking phone calls.  How much of a “spacer” thickness would you think I would have to have to allow to swivel?  Down low it might not be to much of an obstruction when not in use.  Might need room on the table top for a doughnut also.

I can't say I fully understand what you are shooting for.  I would be careful about adding too much "spacer" thickness as I believe that a cantilevered mounting method would add quite a bit of additional stress to the slider trim board.   If you think it would help you, I can take a photo of my Lagun table mount with the table top removed so you can see where the horizontal bar is when it is rotated to the point that it touches the trim board.

JJ, a picture would be nice if not to much trouble.  If you might know the measurement from the center of the pivot to the short end of the horizontal bar would be great, from that I might figure out the thickness of the spacer.

I was out in the RV this morning and took a photo that might help.  The horizontal bar had a larger angle than I expected before there was interference with the vertical trim.  With the minimal spacer on the setup I have, it appears the horizontal bar is approaching 45 degrees before interference with the trim.  I took the photo before I saw your post so I did not get any measurements.  I should be back out to the RV later today, I will try to get a measurement.

This might answer your measurement question.  Evidently Lagun sells just the horizontal arm:

https://www.lagunusa.com/product/arm-only

On that website, they say the arm with end caps is 16 inches long.  They also say the distance between the center of bushing to center of bushing 12 3/4 inches.  So the remaining distance is 3 1/4 inches (subtracting 12 3/4 from 16 inches).  Assuming the distance from the pivot is the same on each end, the distance from the pivot to the short end would be 1 5/8 inches (divided 3 1//4 by 2).  I will measure to double check to see if that is correct the next time I am at the RV.

Got it, ok thanks.  Looks like a bit here and there and removing the end cap, I can make it work.  Going ahead and getting one.  Seeing as there is a L and R, looks like I need the R to mount on the right side of the slide frame, looking at it.

I was at the RV this evening and confirmed the distance from the pivot to the short end of the horizontal bar is 1 5/8 inches.  While I was there I measured the width of the spacer, almost 1 1/2 inches.

I think you will like the Lagun system.  They are sturdy and offer quite a bit of flexibility in table positioning.  It you get the chance, post a photo of your table once you have it complete.
