Changing ac filters

I saw the other post about changing or cleaning the ac filters. I didn't want to hijack the other post, but how do you check the ac filters. Thanks Rick

On my overhead unit the filter is a screen mesh under the air intake grill. I blow mine out with compressed air, this linked method is a little more thorough.

If you google the model of your roof AC, along with 'owners manual' you will most likely find detailed instructions for your model.

There are 2 pull tabs near the celling facing the front.  Grab the tab and pull straight out.   Wash with water or blow out with compressed air.

I clean mine with a dust buster and also clean the grill below those two tabs.   Dust buster works great on the vent screens on the ceiling vents too.

For those owners of older rigs with the Penguin AC unit, there are foam air filters on each side of the ceiling unit. On ours the foam was filthy and was so old it was crumbling. Rather than buying replacement filters I went to a fabric store and bought a dollars worth of foam and cut it to fit the plastic frames. They work great and the AC unit runs much better with clean filters. I have enough foam left over to make several more!
