Leaking ball valve on Gray water flush valve
« on: April 24, 2019, 03:22:44 pm »
Has anyone replaced a Gray water flush ball valve and a toggel switch for the macorator

I do need to replace a Grey Tank Flush brass ball Valves  [ (Brass MNPT x MNPT Mini Ball Valve, Wedge) ??,  Is it a 1/4" Pipe Size] , When I turn the gray tank flush ball valve there is an active leak coming from center screw and behind and around the valve, I think the center screw was over tightened or stripped out, I can not get any type of screw head to lock on to back out that center screw on the ball valve. It appears striped and the head of the screw diver will not bite and keeps stripping the top of the screw head. Looks like I may need to drill it out and replace it I

Gray Tank Flush ball valve center screw is strips and leaks

I also need a new Toggle switch that turns the macerator pump on and off. Looking at the back side I see a lot of corrosion and rust and I know it’s just a matter of time before one or both breaks off. I'm afraid the connection post on the toggle switch will break so I better get have a replacement ready when and if it does.

Hi Rob,

Regarding the ball valve...
Replacement looks possible by cutting the wire ties and bringing down the entire pipe assembly to work with it better.  But my vote is to try harder to remove the center screw and see if a repair can be first made.  Yet I see why it is so difficult to apply enough pressure on the screw head because any serious force stretches the wire ties....yuk.  Maybe it could be done by removing the pipe assembly and secure it into a vise.  But at that point you may be better off replacing the entire pipe assembly with an all brand new assembly.  Then you can upgrade the ball valves to premium grade versions so you never deal with that again.

About the electrical switch....
I bought a water-proof switch with pig-tail wiring off the internet that is styled the same as yours.  I mounted it above my rear license plate to control my back-up lights for the sole purpose of dealing with the tow vehicle in the dark.  Such a switch should properly address your corrosion troubles.
