Factory Visit, Update on 3100 Build
« on: April 06, 2018, 02:02:46 pm »
We visited Phoenix yesterday to see our coach in production. Dave had contacted us (and sent a photo) to let us know it was in the plumbing area.
We met with both Dave and Barry. They were great, being very patient to answer any questions, explain some things, and let us take a thorough look at it and get pictures. They even watched the dogs as we walked around and in it. The dogs approve of the new coach, btw. We wanted to see how things were progressing, particularly with the "customizations" that we had ordered. Everything was as ordered (at least to this point) and things were looking great.

It was nice to see that the factory floor was packed with new coaches in various stages of build. As with every factory visit we've made, the workers were pleasant and very busy. They have rearranged the layout and use of the factory floor, which really looked good.

We were also impressed with the new waiting room up front for people to chill out while waiting for service, etc. They have refreshments for the people and canines (they even had a nice dog bed for dogs to take a snooze, as they wait with their people). This area is where the receptionists used to sit.

We were really happy with our visit and got great vibes that Phoenix USA is working hard to keep providing us with a great product.   :)

Thank you for the response, we appreciate it! We thought a report might be interesting to some, plus, we had to share some of our excitement.

We are headed to Elkhart around the 18th of April.  After reading your 3100 build update, I have a question.  I like the 3100, but was wondering if the dinette could be replaced with two of the euro-recliners?  All these questions will be answered on our visit, but I am curious NOW!   :)

Good question. Obviously we don't make decisions for Phoenix  :-[ , but based on their flexibility in customizing coaches for customers, that sounds very doable. Just eliminate the dinette and put in a couple Euro chairs. I would be surprised if they wouldn't do that for you.

Awesome pictures! You have to be beyond excitement.

Regarding dinette replacement, I have seen couch replaced with chairs, not dinette. The dinette might not be wide enough. You should check out the lengths of each and size of chairs to install. You may consider doing the normal install and replace with chairs later. That way you could reinstall original when you sell. It seems owners that sell with modified chairs have a hard time selling it or have to discount it. Buyers that don’t like the chairs would not consider buying it. Just my observation.

Did you consider the 2910D coach that has no dinette and two euro chairs?

Many thanks to those who replied.  I emailed Barry and he said it could be done, but the euro-recliners would be on a ledge of sorts...the slide out.

I have considered the 2910D with no dinette and two recliners, BUT...the 3100 has a considerably bigger gray water tank.  I assume the second slide takes up the space that a larger gray water tank would be installed.  We have an appointment with Barry next Monday, the 16th.  Looking forward to actually seeing a PC.

Makes sense!
Enjoy your visit to PC. We believe our 3100 is the only one in production right now, so if you see it, let us know how things are going.  :-D

Good tour and meeting with Barry Hyser on the 16th.  We are working on the 3100.  Engineer is working up a sketch to replace dinette with a cabinet with corian top and a "docking station" for euro-chair.  I found the reclining sofa to be incredibly comfortable.

Great! It sounds like a successful trip. Those changes sound like a good fit for what you wanted. Yes, we love the sofa too.
Did you see our 3100? If so, what's its state?

I did see your 3100.  I assume it was yours and the only one on the floor.  We walked through it, but still pretty much just a shell, but could see how the wiring is neatly laid out (also saw this on one of the videos).  I forgot to bring my phone, so I have no pictures (sorry).

That's ok. Happy to hear you had a good/successful visit. We will be seeing our coach again on May 2.
