Hurricane Matthew

We live in Vero Beach, FL and are bracing for Matthew.   Keep us and our family in your thoughts and prayers during this very concerning time.  We will be hit with the worst conditions today and tomorrow.  I will post again when power allows.

No Judi, we do not live beachside.  We are in a life care/retirement community about 2 miles east of I 95.  Our community is fully prepared as much as possible.  My concern is for our son and daughter-in-law.   He has been in Australia on a business trip and is scheduled to land  in Orlando at 5:00 pm today.  Not sure that will happen given that is predicted to be the time of our worst impact.

Our PC is in its storage spot with a lot of other motor homes but that is the least of our concerns.

I so appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Why don't you get in the PC and get the hell out of there. By staying you might be putting the lives of the police, fire fighter and national guard at risk when they have to come save you. This storm is not a joke. It will take more than prayers to save you. God helps those who help themselves.

Airplanes do not land at an airport during a hurricane.

We were sitting on the beach in Myrtle Beach's Lakewood campground until yesterday morning. The Governor of South Carolina asked that everyone move inland 100 miles. So we left and came home to Maryland. I don't want to get hurt or have anyone get hurt trying to save me.

Our thoughts and prayers will be with you and all of the others on the East Coast. We rode out Hurricane Charley in the house in 2004 Cat 3 and NOT FUN!

We have reservations at Sebastian Inlet SP on 10/23 for 5 days. That might not happen!

If you need to evacuate, our driveway will be available for you guys and the PC. We are in a Tropical Storm Watch here in Punta Gorda. Take care.

Thanks to all for you thoughts, prayers and kind driveway offer.

Matthew was much kinder to us than anticipated.  We suffered no damage and lost power less than 24 hours.  Our son's plane landed in Orlando as scheduled and he was able to get home before Matthew. 

We are so thankful and appreciate your support.
