Rescreening the Coach screen door
« on: June 26, 2015, 10:34:50 am »
We just noticed that we have a small hole in the screening on the retractable screen. Has anyone had their screening replaced?

Judi,

I would call Kermit.  I looked on ours and do not see a brand name.  Maybe Kermit can tell you who the manufacturer is and then you could call them and see if it can be done.  There are a few companies online that make them and I even noticed that Home Depot sells them.

There is a name on the door--Liftco with an 800 #. I've got a call in to them to see about rescreening.

Barry and I thought that company was just for the door frame since they specialize in powder coating.   Will be interested to know if they also make the screen section of the door.

Hello George,
I replaced my screen door last year.  It was not all that difficult to take the door off.  If I can find the instructions I will post here. The top and bottom end caps removed will give you access to the roller. Finding the replacement screen locally was a pain. Most custom glass shops can provide it..
With the screen door off I was able to clean and paint below the channels that just snap off.
I was almost tempted to replace it with a hinged door.

Not sure if yours is the same, but ours is a Stowaway screen door.  Liftco is the frame and coach door.

Stowaway is apparently made/sold by a number of companies (Stowett, Lorge).  There are mobile screen repair companies all over the place (screenmobile.com for instance) and kits available to fix small holes at places like Home Depot, Ace, Lowes (http://www.lowes.com/pd_318956-76018-P+8096_0__?productId=3116279)

I'd suggest calling Kermit, as Sue suggested.....he might have material that can be replaced.
