Batteries coach and chassis
« on: March 03, 2015, 02:21:12 pm »
In my recent post I needed advice on batteries and now I solved my problem with batteries and was able to replace them and save $$$.  Found a place In Newark Delaware called TBS Tri-State Battery. these people were knowledgeable and save me a few dollars.  I dealt with Sarah and Josh and they were very personable and helpful in choosing the right batteries for the coach and chassis.  They are online and they do ship batteries.  They cost $109.95 each and the right size for the coach to fit in the 13x14 tray.  They are already charged and ready to go.  So if anyone is near or going thru Newark DE I or MD would recommend this business.  I also saved on sales tax in DE .  I will get $45.00 back when I turn in  the dead batteries.
Their address is 107 Albe Dr., Newark DE  19702 phone is 800 852-9700 and they also have a branch in Belair MD and Gambrills, MD.  Batteries I purchased were Deka Marine Master for the Coach and Deka Gold for the chassis. Coach batteries  are similar to Astro-Lite Group 27 Deep Discharge Marine Battery that Kermit told me about.
Now to get my sons to mount them this weekend so we can get ready for camping season. thanks to all for advice in previous post :)

Before you start replacing your batteries take a picture of the wiring. You can refer to this picture when rewiring to insure you have it correct. ;)

Remove the negative/ground wire first. Replace the that wire last. This will prevent sparking, which can be a bad thing. >(

Excellent suggestion! I find I use my cell phone camera more and more as a back up brain. I take pictures of the list of pre-reserved sites posted at the campground entrance so we know which ones are available as we drive through, the cost of the different sites so we know what to fill in on the little envelopes, schedules at museums, parking lot signs so we can find the car again, etc. etc. etc. We also take pics of the informational signs along trails and and parks so we can reference them when we post something on the blog. Our memories cannot be trusted to get that stuff right, even if we think we'll never forget it. The wiring of the batteries is a an extremely important thing to get right and an excellent use of the "back up brain" photo method.

I plan to mark each cable and take photos as it is very intimidating. I am well aware with so many cables. I also have my sons to help.
Thanks for the input. :)
