We've only used our factory installed DVD player in the FM mode since we bought our new PC. It was working fine in that mode until yesterday when we had started having problems:
First, we had constant static in the sound on every station we tuned to. No static was heard on the little portable radio we have with us, so we thought there must be some interference with the DVD's antenna or other failure with it. We're parked in an open area with no visible obstruction. Don't know where the antenna is located, so we just turned the set off.
Later in the day we tried to get FM again, but this time the set will not function at all. The "OFF" light in the front panel of the DVD player is on constantly and will not change to "ON" or any other display by pressing the on/off button on the set or on the remote control.
We notice that the entire set had shifted a little out of the small space in which it's located in the overhead cabinet. We can push it back into place, but wonder if something has come loose in the rear of the set. Don't know if we should try pulling the whole set out of its space to investigate or anything else to try. In fact, we aren't really sure how to access the back of the unit, or how to pull it out safely.
Anyone have a suggestion on how to diagnose these problems?
